I mange år kæmpede Simon Stålhamre med mindreværdskomplekser og turde ikke vise sine sange frem for omverdenen. Det ændrede sig, da han en dag mødte Jacob Snavely, som overtalte ham til at tage sine sange seriøst. Kort efter kom Christopher Cantillo til og de dannede Small Feet. Lad mig slå fast med det samme, at Simon Stålhamre godt kan pakke sine mindreværdskomplekser langt væk! Han besidder et åbenlyst sangskrivertalent og formår med sin stemme, at ramme en rå ærlighed og naivitet, som kun få kan. Sammenligningen med Daniel Johnston ligger lige for, men man kan også sagtens mærke Stålhamres kærlighed til Neil Young [...]

Bill Callahan hasn't yet followed up his great piece of work, Apocalypse , from 2011, but there was a tour documentary released last year. Callahan is on the road for several tour dates this month, including one in Chicago at the Garfield Park Conservatory Monday (May 6). Doors open 6:30 and the show is 7 with Flat Foot opening. Garfield Park Conservatory is at 300 N. Central Park Ave. in Chicago. Advance tickets appear to be gone. The show is being put on by Land and Sea Dept.

It seemed wrong to do anything outsi de a tribute to the late Jason Molina. Since learning of his passing the other weekend, Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. have been dominating my playlists; in particular the former. Teenage spaceship (Smog Cover) - Sleep Sleep Sleep Sleep recorded a second cover ( after January’s Convertible cover ) and once again it is great. Bill Callahan has nothing to do with  Spiritualized and Sleep Sleep have nothing to do with Spiritualized but somehow their Teenage Spaceship version reminds me of… Spiritualized. This right here is bad music journalism but  also the nicest thing I can imagine saying about a song, ever.

Aside from covering Leonard Cohen for MOJO magazine , Bill Callahan  has remained relatively quiet...that is, until now. Today he announced plans to hit the road this spring, marking his first tour since 2011. According to a press release, the singer-songwriter — who also released a number of albums under the moniker Smog — is expected to play new material at these shows, the first of which takes places on April 30th at Proud Larry's in Oxford, MS. Smog singer Bill Callahan is set to head on tour this spring, starting off with a handful of U.S dates, and it's likely he'll be testing some new tracks live.
