If you are in town you could go to Leanne Harte & Elder Roach in Bewleys Cafe Theatre! Then again 3 legends are upstairs in Whelans. Martin Egan, Fheargal McKee and Craig Walker are sure to provide us with a magical night! Finally why not join the stars in Boyles, Slane on Friday drinking to the sounds of Wayne Brennan!

Henrietta Game are a new band full of massive potential. The four piece consist of Aongus Mac Amhlaigh (cello, vocals), Ali Baba (violin, vocals), Judy Macnamara (Glockenspiel, guitar, piano, vocals) and Chris Leech (guitar, piano, vocals). Henrietta Game make music that could easily be described as indie folk. The lyrics are meaningful and the vocal melodies are superb. When the string section kicks in the sound becomes warmer and in many ways more intense. Make up your own mind by checking out the sample mp3 below. Sample Mp3: Running Out Of Time [...]

We are following up the success of the launch with a great mix in this line-up. Headlining is Bill Coleman who will showcase some new material. New bands Henrietta Game and Arrow In The Sky will bring their fresh new sounds to the night. However it is the magical talents of Mickael Lenel who will steal the show! Check this out!

I was chatting with one of the soundest blokes in the music scene last week Bill Coleman who is working hard at getting the difficult second album completed before the end of the year. Being the industry heavyweight I am I was slipped a demo CD of three new tracks. And WOW! We need a new adjective to describe the tunes. Luckily you can decide the word by checking out new tunes 'Crossfire', 'False North' and 'Your Hands Were Made For Working' on his MySpace page. http://www.myspace.com/billcol emanmusic Also Bill's website has [...]

I need a better title for this feature! Anyway as always lots going in the Irish Music scene! I have been fortunate enough to be in attendance to a few gigs recently. And some excellent shows they have been too! Little Palace - Backroom, Navan Thursday 9th April Little Palace have staged their own version of the Resurrection when they appeared again out of nowhere with an excellent album of Michael Brunnock penned tunes. I really enjoyed the gig due to the appreciation and enthusiasm of the [...]
In the space of five days I got to see four of Ireland's finest artists in Whelans. Here for what it's worth is my take on the gigs! Friday 3rd April - One Day International with support from The Hedge Schools The Hedge Schools were Pat Barrett assisted by his mate, the legendary Joe Chester who produced last year's album 'Never Leave Anywhere'. I'm a massive fan of this album. Perfect escapism in the car. Performed live the tunes seem even more poignant and mesmerising. Their sound reminded me of old mid week gigs in pre-renovation [...]

1. People seem to like lists! 2. Brian Canavan & Bill Coleman are going to be brilliant tonight upstairs in Whelans because they are playing for your hard earned cash. Firstly if you can get to Whelans early on Wednesday to catch blog favourites Heritage Centre supporting the brilliant Alphastates. Should be a great night. Blog tip for the top act Aortal are no more. Talented singer James O'Toole has decided to put his musical career on hold to become a full time socialist and activist. All the best to James but this to me sums up what is wrong with the whole internet/facespace/twatter thing! Sometimes too much information is given! Before the net, James could have privately decided to put career on hold, [...]

This Friday feature is about bringing quality Irish Music on the net to your attention in order to set in motion that weekend feeling! This week it's the turn of the excellent Bill Coleman who is almost ready to release his second album. The debut from 2007 'I'll Tear My Own Walls Down' is one of the best Irish albums made in recent years. Bill is a great songwriter and storyteller who deserves your attention. On his website he has a number of sample tunes available which includes a new tune 'I Want You To Know'. [...]

Within the tracks chosen are international acts such as David Ford, Jaymay, The National and The Gutter Twins as well as the following Irish acts I have chosen. I do the Ruby Sessions night on a Tuesday evening in a cosy venue in the middle of Dublin. The problem is being a father the chances of getting out on a Tuesday night is slim but when I go I absolutely love it! I have seen Duke Special, Katell Keineg, Terry Sutton, Ann Scott, Bill Coleman, Jenny Lydfords, Aortal and The Bottom Floor Band. The €6 cover charge goes straight to The Simon Community. Here are some performances from The Ruby Sessions! Una Healy - Sorry Ray Heffernan - Stardust [...]

I heard Bill Coleman a few days ago and there was no looking back. It's an unassuming name for an unassuming dude who is definitely a little crazy. Immediate comparisons to a more upbeat Damien Rice (especially since they're both Irish), but with a few different musical stylings (some more pop at times, some Jeff Buckley-esque electric-only action). This fantastic album came out in 2006 and I'm pretty sure you still can't find a physical copy to buy in the US. iTunes is probably the best/only bet other than paying in pounds on a British music website. Apparently [...]

Really, it's not that I'm lazy. It's that Phil can talk about Bill Coleman much more effectively than I can, so let's let him: "Essentially, Bill Coleman is a finger-picking-guitar-style singer-songwriter from Cork, Ireland. He released his debut album I'll Tear My Own Walls Down in February, and has some free downloads on his website. I go to his live show every chance I get. The guy knows how to put on a show, especially when he has his full band (at times, reviewers try to compare his live shows to The Flaming Lips, for the sheer zanyness, [...]
