As 2011 comes to an end, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year by our guest editors. Nothing if not a model of consistency, Buffalo Tom has been making the same decent-to-great music since 1992's Let Me Come Over. Actually the Massachusetts trio's third album, Let Me [...]
Yes, the word "epic" is grossly overused and has lost any and all of its merit. But there's just no other way to describe this nearly-15-minute clip from Wednesday's BEST MUSIC POLL... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

[photo courtesy of Oscar Anjewierden ] The conventional wisdom about Buffalo Tom is that they are a quintessential "90s sound" band forever interwoven with the cultural milieu of that period - specifically, their connection to the short-lived but iconic tv show "My So Called Life" . The problem with boxing in the Tom with a sound or with a decade is that those relationships are almost entirely anecedotal. Buffalo Tom is a trio with a universal guitar/bass/drums/earnest-voca ls "roots rock" sound with influences from any of the last five decades, and which retains [...]
The Boston alternative rock mainstays don't quite recapture the magic of its '90s classic Let Me Come Over album, but its latest record has its own instant classics.
Nothing if not a model of consistency, Buffalo Tom has been making the same decent-to-great music since 1992's Let Me Come Over. Actually the Massachusetts trio's third album, Let Me Come Over feels more like a debut, as it zeroed in brilliantly on the group's strengths, namely the earnest, imagery-laden, acoustic-gone-electric songwriting of guitarist Bill [...]

Thankfully, we haven't had to wait as long for Skins (out tomorrow on their own imprint, Scrawny Records)as we did for Three Easy Pieces , the album Buffalo Tom returned with in 2007 after a nine year semi-hiatus. Better still, it's a stronger album. Where Three Easy Pieces felt sort of self-conscious in trying to figure out what the band means in the new century, Skins finds the band on more confident footing. Its sound is layered and textured, with pianos and acoustic guitars and mandolins alongside some [...]
howdy! buffalo tom has a new record coming out, skins , on march 8 and im guessing in anticipation of said release they're giving away an acoustic ep with two buffalo tom classics, the lead track off skins "arise, watch," and a new order cover. check them out performing at q division studios in boston.

Boston rockers Buffalo Tom (yeah, remember them?) return with a new album on February 15 called Skins. It's their first new album since 20072s Three Easy Pieces. The album is being released on the band's own label, Scrawny Records and features a guest vocal appearance from Tanya Donnelly. In between albums over the last decade or so, lead singer/guitarist and songwriter Bill Janovitz has been staying pretty busy working on music for television shows, doing some solo recording, and he authored Exile On Main Street for the [...]
