Here's a round-up of events and albums which you should check out: Tiny Dancer - A Song For Lily-Mae Buy on Itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/album /tiny-dancer/id576441815?i=576 441894 Four year old Lily-Mae Morrison from Claregalway is suffering from Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare and extremely aggressive childhood cancer of the nervous system. This is a wonderful cover for an exceptional cause. Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer' has been recorded by some of Ireland's finest musicians to raise money for Lily-Mae Morrison to get the care she needs. Four year old Lily-Mae Morrison from Claregalway is suffering from Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare and extremely aggressive childhood cancer of the nervous system. She is the daughter of professional ballet dancers, Judith Sibley and Leighton Morrison. When she grows up, she wants to be a ballet dancer like her Mummy and Daddy but Neuroblastoma is not playing nicely, it wants to kill her. [...]

The 4th installment of a new take on reviewing singles entitled 'Singles Battle' pits the sweet sounding indie rock of Storyfold against the slightly edgier sound of Dundalk's RedTwelve. Storyfold - The Sweetest Silence I've written many times on the blog already about the new single from Storyfold entitled 'The Sweetest Silence'. The song has Lindsay providing lead vocals and becomes really effective when Paddy's backing vocals come in to create the [...]

No matter how much Irish music I come by when the Vantastival line-up is announced there's always at least a dozen or so bands I have no idea existed. Here's the best of those new bands on the line-up that's yet to be featured on the blog. Cars Love Girls Brother & sister duo Cars Love Girls have a pop/rap sound similar to Republic of Loose! Oh wait it's because they are two members of Republic of Loose! There's [...]

In a crowded radio friendly rock pop market where it's nearly impossible to get radio play .... Jerome's Law make some good music which could see the band breakthrough to the heights of ..... We love a band in uniform here at State, even more so if they ply a trade of that consists of combining classic rock ‘n’ roll with fairly brutal hardcore punk. Rocket From The Crypt did it fifteen or so years ago and now, under the watchful eye of the band’s John ‘Speedo’ Reis, The Computers have picked up the mantle. This Is The Computers (One Little Indian), is short, very sharp and shocks you in the best possible way. Sure the vocals make you feel as if you’ve been gargling razorblades for half an hour [...]

I went to Tower Records last evening to see Bipolar Empire put on a free instore performance. They played an excellent half hour set, which sounded great and the small crowd loved it. I was really surprised though that Tower wasn't jammed with people. How often do you get an intimate audience with up and coming bands, gratis? Not too often. So I thought I should highlight Tower's instore performance listing so more of you might be encouraged to go along and support/discover [...]

Here is my review of the first Irish festival of the season which took place over the last three days in Co. Louth called Vantastival . I was attending the festival as a blogger, music enthusiast as well as a father as I brought my twin 9 year old boys with me. This was the second year of Vantastival . While the line-up of last year was stronger there was really no comparison to be made to last year's inaugural festival. The organisers [...]

This coming Saturday sees a great line-up for the one day 'Festival of the Fires' music festival featuring a truly splendid line-up for the nice sum of €35 if the ticket is purchased before the day and €40 on the door. MAIN STAGE 13:00 – Touch the Earth 14:00 – Aldo (Mexico) 14:30 – Ronan Leonard 15:15 – Pete Courtney [...]
Bipolar Empire is the latest band to get a big push in Ireland. The band are releasing their debut album 'Feel That You Own It' this week and it's got some very good songs on it. However as an album it doesn't work for me as there are too many highly skipable tracks. The album kicks off with the infamous 'Tempomaniac' which was heavily featured on Irish television. I've never liked the track and therefore skip onto the much superior [...]

I've mentioned the launch last week. For just a fiver entry this BYOB event consists of Sweet Jane, Henrietta Game, Bipolar Empire, The Kapitals and TKO! Here's a decent tune from folk rockers TKO!
Bipolar Empire are gaining momentum at the moment after their Late Late show appearance and having their last single Tempomanic used in a television advertisement in Ireland. Here's a video for their lastest single 'Feel That You Own It' released on April 1st featuring World Champion boxer Katie Taylor.
Check out the excellent video for Bipolar Empire's upcoming single 'Feel That You Own It'.
