Ooh boy, do I have an album to share with you tonight. This evening's featured album of the week is the full-length debut by Guillemots, which is so, so very excellent, I'm quite tempted to play it in its entirety. But that would be silly, even for college radio. Mostly it would be silly because I have an entire two hours of great music to play for you. But Through the Windowpane is good. So, very, very good. Speaking of very very good - the free mp3 [...]

So I've been away from this beast for a considerable amount of time. Months, actually. And fittingly, the last time I've touched it was Valentine's Day. Reality was just awfully draining. And high ambitions don't aid in that pursuit. I'm just glad that I have good music to come back to each day. And there aren't many bands that make me feel much better after a long 24 than Bishop Allen. For those of you that don't know, these Brooklyn natives have released an EP each month of [...]

I really hope that Bishop Allen puts all these songs from their monthly EPs on one compilation. I'd hate knowing that I'm only hearing few songs from a larger group. So far I've heard one track from every album but also May and April in their entirety. I'm generally impressed with the songs that I've heard coming out in this series, I think more bands should take on projects like this. Which brings us to the June EP, I figure all the important blogs have already posted this but if you haven't already given it a listen. [...]

Personally I've never been a huge fan of the completely psychedelic rock band, with the long, drawn out guitar solos and trippy visuals. Perhaps the one exception that I make is for The Mars Volta. See, Cedric and Omar really first caught my attention via At the Drive-In way back in the "Acrobatic Tenement" days. As one of my favorite punk groups ever, I was extremely disappointed by the ATDI breakup. Little did I know what would happen next. Jim Ward would head up Sparta, a mid-level punk band that really played to a radio friendly crowd but never gained [...]
The latest addition to Bishop Allen's set of EP's is their summer release, June. Their previous releases include January, February, March, April, and May. Which are all available for purchase at their store site. "The Same Fire" is a song that could be used as a soundtrack to anyone's summer. I really like it and I'll post it up for you guys. Enjoy. Ah it's that (and if you're a gal, that other) time of the month again, if you're not familiar with Bishop Allen's plans for this year, it goes like this - Bishop Allen is a band that hails from Brooklyn, and took a nice hiatus shortly after their debut hit Charm School in order to write their (currently) label-less album Clementines . As that album strolls about waiting for release, they're going to distribute an EP every month - yes, every month. Last month, they released Butterfly Nets - a great [...]

I feel like I really ought to say something profound and interesting. But, having gorged on an entire bag of TJ's chocolate pretzels, my brain can only say, "BZZZZZZZZ." So! I was at the gym the other day, and listening to the Mountain Goats while watching an insanely thin girl doing her workout. The super duper thing about gyms in L.A. is that there is a very high percentage of Beautiful People, doing their crunches and whatnot while you sweat through your workout, grind your teeth, and hate them. Therefore, I present our [...]
We would like to introduce you to Bishop Allen . When we kicked back, threw on the headphones, and listened to this artist we thought "A carton of self-motivated, galvanized rock nugget extractors."
