STREAMING: Flaming Lips - Now I Understand (feat. Erykah Badu, Siri, Biz Markie) pubblicato su Indie For BUNNIES
The Flaming Lips are kicking off 2012 with a typically obtuse, psychadelic mini-release you'll only have a week to check out. "Now I Understand," just uploaded to the band's SoundCloud for a few days, features vocal contributions from frontman Wayne Coyne's Siri iPhone 4s app alongside the mystical stylings of Erykah Badu and a reversed Biz Markie sample. The end product is surprisingly listenable for all its strange disparate parts – we just wish Siri always sounded like Erykah Badu , whose haunting pipes perfectly ground the spacey strangeness of everything else. Check it [...]

After teasing fans with a few short seconds of teh Bon Iver featuring Flaming Lips track,a full track has hit the web and this one features Erykah Badu, Biz Markie and everyone's virtual best friend, Siri. Regarding the track Wayne Coyne says: Sound construction piece featuring Lips, Erykah Badu, Siri , and Biz Markie backwards. It's called 'Now I Understand' It's funny and will be available on SoundCloud for one week only!!! Life is beautiful. Music gets you high. Music does get you high along with whatever [...]
I don't possess the very latest iPhone, and so what I've seen of that newfangled Siri feature has been friends' half-witted demos where the question posed is like "Siri, please tell me why I wake up with this sinking pit of desperation in my gut every morning" and Siri is like "Finding you: sinkhole repairmen in New York City." It seems like very utilitarian software and I wish I had it! SIRI, GIVE YOURSELF TO ME. Now here on this song, the first new one of 2012 for the Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne finds a whacked-out and oddly moving aesthetic [...]
I have always been on the fence about the music of The Flaming Lips . Some of it really hits home, why other times it seems to fly right over my head. Either way, I respect the fact that they are always willing to try new things, such as their recent list of bizarre collaborations. Our first taste of the announcement from Wayne Coyne and his psychedelic outfit is "Now I Understand"- a liberating song featuring Erykah Badu , Biz Markie, and Siri. Yes, Siri, the talking robot (that never understands what I am asking) that you find on your iPhone 4s. [...]

Look it doesn't matter that it's Sunday, anytime the Lips put out a track, it's a reason to post. This one features Erykah Badu, Biz Markie (backwards, evidently) and that annoying voice on your phone that some people seem to think will help you out, but I just think it's leading you on. Available for one week only, so listen as much as you can, "Now I Understand."

I love The Flaming Lips because they embrace creative freakness and the collaboration on "Now I Understand" showcases this perfectly. As far as I know this is Siri's musical debut, but I have a feeling that we'll be hearing more of her in the future. Erykah Badu is her normal lovely self on the "sound construction piece," however I'm a little upset because I was expecting more Biz Markie. According to Wayne Coyne, Biz is recorded backwards in the song so who knows where he may actually be. Last week The Flaming Lips announced and offered some [...]

Wayne Coyne debuts the first full collaboration track.
Oh yeah... and Siri's in there too. She's really the star of the whole thing.

Flaming Lips does "something cosmic" here with Ms. Badu, Siri & Biz Markie. Available for streaming for one week only. Flaming Lips ft. Erykah Badu, Siri & Biz Markie- "Now I Understand" -mp3

The legendary Juice Crew (at least some of them) will be on stage in London, England on April 9, 2012. Among the founding members coming are Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Craig G, MC Shan and Roxanne Shante. Notably missing from the circulating press release are DJ Marley Marl and Kool G Rap. In this edition of This Book is a Song , I am revisiting something I initially read several years ago: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. Though I liked it the first time, it felt more relevant and enjoyable this time around. And I had some fun thinking about what music connects to it.
I really can't think of a better way to end the week than what I consider to be one of Jay-Z's sickest tracks Girls, Girls, Girls featuring Slick Rick, Biz Markie and Q-tip. We've got some big names (with talent) collaborating on this track, so saying that it's good would just be stating the obvious. Having said that, this post is not intended to provide you with more music or hype it up in any way. My intentions for this segment are to celebrate the recordings that have made today's music possible under the hands of creative musicians [...]

B-boys, producers, or funk aficionados...when it comes to breaks, few are as celebrated as the Hihache drums, a distinct kick /snare with a hi hat that draws to resemble the name of the song (IMO). Perhaps the breaks popularity is due to their conspicuous placement at the beginning of a funk burner, easy to spot, juggle or loop, or perhaps it due to their ability to take on multiple personalities and fit the mood; likely a combination of the two... the result is the same, the foundation of some of the most loved classic hip hop songs, and maybe more [...]

Last night, J-Fal (or, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon ) put together the best party any child's parents could ask for: Erykah Badu, Biz Markie, Bootsy Collins, The Roots, and Yo Gabba Gabba! all performed together on stage, debuting a new song, "We're Gonna Party Today". Although George Clinton didn't surface, there was plenty of old-school funk to be had, which led to one bold lesson: Great grooves make great friends. The best part, however, comes around 2:30 when Black Thought chimes in - what a bad ass. Once again, how is this not Emmy award-winning material?
