Loleatta Holloway was an important voice for the disco generation and also to the house music movement that followed. If you ever listened to disco you know the classic ' Love Sensation ' by Loleatta Holloway (written by Dan Hartman), that was sampled to 2 80s' / 902s famous tracks such as ' Ride On Time ' by Black Box and ' Good Vibrations ' by Marky Mark. According to a tweet apparently from her manager, Loleatta Holloway died last night. Holloway had hits in her own right - most notably Love Sensation: That song got sampled, remixed, and wound up providing the smartest bits of Black Box's Ride On Time: Unfortunately for Black Box, they didn't get the samples cleared, and ended up being dragged through the courts before handing over large chunks of the royalties to Holloway and Love Sensation songwriter Dan Hartman. Our Brother is coming back to town! Not really our brother, but he may as well be and we welcome him as if he was. Brother Stephen brings his soothing songs back to town along with IamIs and Dane Waters (of Softcheque and Sapat). This will all go down at the Blackbox in Nulu. Don't care what you say about this song. Strike it up from Black Box was a new sound that was going to take the early 90s by storm, also early signs of pre New Jack. When the funk started to die down in the late 80s a new breed of artist rose up and took over the main stream. In the 90s we discovered Hip House, Pre house, Techno/Pop, Hip Hop and the art of Voguing. Oh, and the staple fashion included spandex biker shorts.
