by teepoo Seems like The Darcys are always giving us free goodies! Well today, they released another set of songs called AJA which they have released for free download in exchange for an e-mail here . The 7 songs are soulful pieces of distorted rock and a take on Steely Dan's 1977 album. The Darcy's music is never void of sound and AJA continues to prove this point. The Darcys- Black Cow

Sorry about the delay on this stupid list guys, internet deprivation is the worst. Who gives a shit anyway though, 'Best Of' lists are lame and overdone. So here's mine! 2011 flat out fucking ruled. So much great music, so many great parties. We toured so many awesome DJs and ate so many delicious pizzas at our Sunday Sessions. Met so many lovely people and spent a horrendous amount of money on records. Whilst people were having their heads caved in by brostep and moombahton and whatever other whack rubbish is infecting clubs these days, I [...]

Well while the mail man continues to take his sweet time delivering my boatload of records and my patience reaches an all time low, here are a couple of nice thangs to keep things rolling. This is a nice simple psychedelic jam from Permanent Vacation 's swell second volume of Space Oddities. Although it's much more primitive, I smell hints of early 70s Floyd - the same kind of raw simplicity in the real grooved out sections of Echoes. I can picture a band of shirtless college students in flares with some cheap marshall-lookalike cabs and the assembly hall [...]

Sorry for all the neglect lately folks but I've got a pretty spicy Delishcast to make up for it. Real happy with this one, plenty of jazz and funk flying around. Kicking off with a Doobies track played at the wrong speed which I totally reckon sounds like it's been covered by MJ. Also some Herbie - saw him at the Opera House last week and he's been hogging my dreams since so I can't really leave him out. Have a laugh with the Hackney Colliery Band's Toto cover which is actually pretty brilliant. Also I've been waiting to work [...]

Yikes, this old blog just turned 4 years old the other day. Thanks to those of you who've stuck around, it's been swell fun. I might do a bit of a celebratory Delishcast next week but for now I've got the very best birthday gift of all - the latest Black Cow record. Four releases in (coincidence? I think NOT) and it's been made even more clear that, for me, it's the best edits label currently in existence. The B-side on this one is an absolute monster... Massive party vibes and some of the most ridiculous bass shredding [...]

Alright the January hangover is (maybe) starting to wear off and there's been shitloads of great music piling up for the past couple of months that needs to be shared. Starting off with this record from way back in 2010, ancient times, by Norm De Plume on what I presume is a new edits label he's started up - if it's not a one off. Norm hosts the Delusions of Grandeur podcast and is clearly capable of putting together a seriously damaging record. The A-side, an instrumental edit of Stop Bajon, comes down with a universe [...]

Man this is always so tricky boiling 12 months down to 10 tracks. It's taken longer than I anticipated to put this all together so just pretend it was posted a week ago back when it was that distant year we've all forgotten about now, 2010. Massive THANKS to everyone who still reads this lil' blog of mine and hope you all had a super duper silly season. Will get stuck into 2011 very soon but for now here are the things that really tickled me in the last 12 months. Hope you enjoy! ------------------------------ ------------------- [...]

At long last the postman has been kind and the new wax is flowing again. This little blog turned 3 years old a couple of weeks ago and I think these tunes are worthy of a bit of a celebration post. So far these Black Cow 45s have scored a big 2 out of 2. So vintage yet so fresh. The A-side on the second release, O.P. Connection, is a dense party-funk jam with noodling bass and an over-excited horns section. These will continue to sell out seriously quickly so be alert like the grasshopper. [...]

Got a rough hangover so let's keep this brief. Firstly, we're doing a Death Strobe party at Bondi Social this Sunday which will be heeeepzz of fun. Free drinks and stuff - you can't say no. Please do come along and say g'day! Check out the flyer . This Black Cow 7" was a tricky one to track down but I'm super stoked I finally got my hands on it. Simply incredible funky vintage jam with an awesome acid line and floaty party vox. Hum Records still have one copy in stock, aside [...]
