Another gem surfaced for me this morning on SoundCloud, this time from Black Diamond Bay out of Leeds in the UK. Black Diamond Bay are a six piece band playing a pretty unique brand of electro-folk music. They've drawn comparisons with the likes of Massive Attack ( Boom Boom CHK ) and are also a touch similar to Breton albeit in a much less industrial manor. Montreal band, Black Diamond Bay , is made up of the Dears' former guitarist, Patrick Krief, and drummer, George Donoso III as well as Alexandre Lapointe on bass and Roberto Piccioni on keyboards. They started the project after Krief recorded his 7 song solo EP, Take it Or Leave , in 2007. 2010 finds the band releasing a new single called "Philharmonic Bubble." Last night, just hours before The Dears were set to kick off their six-week North American tour tonight in Toronto, the band's tour bus was stolen from the parking lot of a Comfort Inn in Montreal while the driver slept in his hotel room.
