Anything coming from Black Moth Super Rainbow or side-projects of it's members is A-OK in my book. Here is another track from Tobacco (BMSR frontman) that is rumored to be on his upcoming release Maniac Meat , which is due out some time later this year (hopefully!) There's a couple things you'd expect from a solo album of a member of the Black Moth Super Rainbow: vocoder, funky drum beats , and woozy analog synths. On BMSR's The Seven Fields of Aphelion 's new album Periphery , you only get the last one. Closer in sound to Emeralds or Stellar OM Source, Periphery is full of gorgeous ambient synth music that would probably have sounded as natural in 1985 as it does in 2010. On tracks like "Sunburst Chemicals," "Lake Feet," and "Mountain Mary," The Seven Fields of Aphelion plays real live piano, [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow member The Seven Fields of Aphelion is set to release her solo debut, Periphery, later this month on Graveface. The record is a collection of soothing "fragile ambient soundscapes" created using piano and vintage synths, which lend these floating sleep jams a warm, nostalgic glow. Culture Bully proudly presents "2009 Mashed," a compilation combining elements of the year that was, represented by the collected efforts of a group of bastard-pop producers from around the world.
The gang gets hyperbolic. Rating: 4.7/ 5 (3 votes cast)

The man known under the pseudonym of Philip Seymour Hoffman sent over a new track titled "Duckfangs Tickle My Ankles" in which he stated that the lyrics are originally from a Black Moth Super Rainbow song, though Im not sure which one. In other news PSH has just released his first physical piece of music in the form of a cassette through Breakfast Of Champs with the intriguing title of the lighthouse itself is the rocket which you can purchase for four bucks here ; furthermore PSH has assured us he made love to each [...]
mp3: "Leafhead, Sing To Us" This album was just released despite being the predecessor to the band's 2003 album Falling Through A Field . Some songs overlap, but most are new. It's stripped down and acoustic, which are words that can rarely be used with this band. These days they make dense psychedelic electro. But in both cases, the music makes you drift away, which isn't something most music does. Order the limited deluxe 2xLP here , or just preview/buy the mp3's at amazon . [...]

Years before Tobacco and company emerged from their creative chrysalis as Black Moth Super Rainbow, they were known as satasnstompingcatepillars. Before that the notably smaller crew had been Allegheny White Fish (Pittsburgh slang from a condom floating down the river), but the crew had grown up since those salad days of high school. This is where The Autumn Kaleidoscope Now Has Hips finds them, re-released now with a slightly different name and under the group's current moniker. Before the group's discovery of the vocoder and full implication of their vintage synths but after the noisier, hip-hop inspired sounds [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive , Canada For Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne , the idea of wrapping his band's latest disc in fake fur seemed like a natural thing to do. "Fur seemed perfect for the kind of imagery we associated with this collection of songs," Coyne tells Spinner about a very special edition of 'Embryonic.' "Since we have the freedom to design whatever we want, that occurred to us immediately: 'Shouldn't we get some kind of fur?' For a [...]
Christian Savill of Slowdive and Sean Hewson of Eternal go way back. In fact, 2010 will mark their 20th anniversary of playing together; 10 of those have been as the dream pop band Monster Movie . And what better way to celebrate both the China and tin anniversaries then with a little polycarbonate plastic in the form of a new CD. Everyone Is A Ghost will be the band's first album since 2005's All Lost and their fifth in all. Recorded over six U.S. and UK cities throughout 2009, [...]

duchess says - "black flag" (stream-only) I wasn't familiar with Montreal's Duchess Says until recently. I heard this song for the first time on Tobacco 's ( Anticon / Black Moth Super Rainbow ) Halloween podcast Orgy Drills 1 . This whole record is pretty great. All over the place moog-punk, sometimes melodic, sometimes abrasive. They have a great cover of the Six Finger Satellite song I posted a little while ago (" Rabies (Baby's Got The)"). Great stuff. Check it [...]
Black Moth Super Rainbow released one of the more unique albums of 2008, Eating Us, which melded atmospherics and shoegaze into a swirling amalgam complete with digital flourishes and haunting imagery. The Seven Fields of Aphelion, a member of the Pennsylvania quintet, is stepping out on her own with a debut slated for release on February 16. Dubbed Periphery, the first hints from the release -

The mysterious artist The Seven Fields of Aphelion releases an equally mysterious solo album.
