Black Room's new single Control is their best music since the brilliant Pop Noir album from 2009. You can buy it on itunes (worldwide) now. Speaking of which, I asked band member Pål Myran-Håland if they were doing a new album. "Yes, there is an album in progress! We're looking at an album release in autumn 2011." [...]
Tweet Presenting the promotional film for Control , the new single by Blackroom. A pretty standard video featuring the bands looking as cool as possible as they proceed to take over our senses with yet another winning single. They have yet to disappoint and if you haven't yet fallen for the band's charms as yet, I simply don't know what you're waiting for. Share this on del.icio.us [...]

Tweet Just in case you didn't get the previous memo in regards to the sound coming out of Norway so pristine, so perfect, so darn pop-tastic known as Blackroom, here is a bit of a refresher. The electronic band's first single What Is That You Want was nothing short of being an absolute banger that demands play in the club. The band's new single Control slows things down a notch but still is a fantastic single in its [...]
After introducing us to a fresh new sound earlier this year with the global release of their new single " What Is It That You Want ," Norwegian pop trio Blackroom now serves up "Control," another finely cut synth-pop gem that is taken from their forthcoming new album that will be released after the summer (and which is very, very good). Pop aficionados among you may remember Blackroom as Lorraine who had success with tracks like "Italian Girlfriend" and "Return To The World" a few year back. The release of " What Is It [...]
Remember Blackroom ? Back in the early days of this blog I fell in love with Norwegian act Lorraine , who eventually morphed into Blackroom - or was it Black Room then? - and released a great debut album called Pop Noir. I even interviewed them at the time. That album title was fitting, with strongly melodic tunes from both the light and dark sides of pop. It has mysteriously disappeared from iTunes US, but is worth [...]
Earlier this month, I exclusively premiered the brand-new Blackroom single, titled "What Is That You Want," that is available on iTunes worldwide now.p"What Is It That You Want" stays true to Blackroom's atmospheric brand of pop but introduces clubbier production stylings. Powerful and promising new music that comes with a fresh new twist on their signature sound.pThe Norwegian trio just unleashed the flashing, flaring and flickering video for the track that neatly matches the moody qualities of the song. Watch it after the break.

In another world, Hurts always get a hit single, Robyn is selling out venues across the world and Lorraine never needed to become Blackroom after their first crack at the pop world fell on its beautiful Scandinavian face. But we do not live in this world sadly. We live in a world of Matt Cardle, Parade and Wiz Khalifa. *CRIES FOR HOURS* So instead of being the premiere of another huge hit single for bench-loving trio Blackroom (nee Lorraine), what follows is the premiere of the new Blackroom single which is destined to be [...]

Tweet Quick question: Remember an electronic pop band that came straight outta Bergen, Norway around 2005 called Lorraine? They were up and comers who didn't quite make it all the way into the public consciousness though they were certainly on their way. They were the darlings of blogs such as the esteemed PopJustice who were early champions of the band. I'm guessing for the most part that you haven't. That's okay because they are back with a different name, a different sound and this time, a hope for a different [...]
We've written before about Blackroom - formerly Lorraine, one of the best bands you've probably never heard of - but we recently got sent this new track so we're going to go right ahead and write about them again. Blackroom are a 3-piece (we think) hailing from Bergen, Norway (and we've been known to like things from Norway before). Lorraine were a straight up synthpop act (well ahead of their time as it turned out) but Blackroom seemed to be going down a more Depeche Mode route with their previous tracks, and going a little too rocky and heavy [...]
Norwegian synth pop duo Blackroom is plotting their long-awaited return to the pop scene with some brand-new music. After getting a taste of international success as Lorraine with tracks like "Italian Girlfriend" and "Return To The World," the group will be releasing their brand-new single "What Is It That You Want" on March 22 in iTunes stores worldwide. This new single marks the band's first release since putting out their LP "Pop Noir" in Japan in 2009. Blackroom's music is best described as atmospheric synth pop featuringpvivid pop melodies with a subtle rock edge that create [...]

Norwegian trio Blackroom has been holed up in a studio to records tracks for their forthcoming sophomore album. The group of Ole Gunnar Gundersen (vocals), Anders Winsents (guitar) and Pal Myran Haaland (keyboards, programming) arepexclusively sharing a brand-new track with ArjanWrites.com that they wrote especially for the dark days of Christmas. This new effort is titled "Angel" and you can grab it totally-guilt free below. Dominated by a throbbing bass line, Ole's emotive vocals and stark synths with the occasional glimmer, "Angel" is a buzzing slice of pop noire that pretty much defines the group's signature [...]

Promising Norwegian pop trio Blackroom has been dilligently writing and recording new material for a future new album independently after splitting from Columbia Records last year. Changing their name from Loraine to Blackroom, the group ofpOle Gunnar Gundersen (vocals), Anders Winsents (guitar) and Pal Myran Haaland (keyboards, programming) have not strayed too far from the stark, atmospheric electronic that marked the sound on their first album. Several new tracks have surfaced over the last few months that gives us a taste of what they been up to. The latest track the trio has unveiled is titled "XTC" and [...]

Because we're too busy to write about everything we've seen, done and listened to. Mostly using power tools in our lounge and finding out it's not a good idea to use the coffee table as a work bench BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRWHOOPS... 1. Norwegian pop trio Blackroom has unveiled some much-anticipated new tracks this week that will surely satisfy the synth-pop purists among you. Hailing from Bergen, Norway, Blackroom (formerly called Lorraine) is the teaming of Ole Gunnar Gundersen (vocals), Anders Winsents (guitar) and Pal Myran Haaland (keyboards, programming). The treesome first hit the European music scene in 2003 with songs like "Perfect Cure" and "Echoes," followed by "Italian Girlfriend" and "Transatlantic Flight." After parting ways with Columbia Records, they are now independently recording and releasing their music. The group's new tracks " Control " (listen [...]

Norwegian indie pop trio Black Room boasted today on Twitter that they released two "new" songs on their MySpace page. One of the songs, the gritty "Home," is new to me, but the other track, titled "Tell It All," is not really all that fresh. It appeared on their "Pop Noir" debut album that is available at an iTunes near you. But I'm not complaining. Anything Black Room is very welcome. Blackroom (previously called Lorraine) serves up a compelling and atmospheric brew of pop, rock and electronica that is bit like a mix of Duran Duran, [...]

Remember Lorraine ? A few years ago, three Norwegians got together over a common passion for moody pop, electronic sounds and live performances, making their own musical universe. Mixing catchy melodies with influences from more beat-oriented music is their trademark, lead singer Ole, synthman Paal and guitarist Anders released a bunch of catchy tunes ( Transatlantic Flight anyone?) and kept us asking for more. However, time passed without any news from the band. Until now, that is. For reasons unknown the trio renamed themselves Black Room and finally released a record. By calling it [...]

In one of most poignantly unceremonious album releases I can recall, Lorraine /Black Room launched their long-awaited - 3 years! - album Pop Noir today on iTunes . UK iTunes / US iTunes Tracklist: 1 I Feel [...]

Black Room are finally gearing up. I had a bit of... resentment for them when they killed Lorraine by wiping their myspace and Faceboook with no message to their fans. Then I saw this album cover and relaxed-related-released my pissed fanboy routine. The music is great, so bring it on. They are currently streaming some songs you may or may not know. Let's hope it happens this time.
