It seems that arrows have played a major part in my life this past week. Don't worry, my flock, I haven't impaled myself or shot anyone yet, but I have had few runins with the noun called arrow. There was an arrow in the mind-melting season finally of Lost last wednesday. It's not the most personal interaction with an arrow, but it's still there. My good friend Max found out recently that he has good arches (As I right the word "arches" I'm reminded of archery, which also involves arrows. Coincidence? Not while I'm still breathing.), which in turn causes [...]

They will be forced to work it out for the rest of their lives, falling in and out of love. This year in hip-hop is making 2005 look like even more of a dud than I imagined. The one exception was Blackalicious' The Craft (available at eMusic ). But then, I never really expect anything less than the best from Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel. Browsing their MySpace , I found the duo is offering a remix of Rhythm Sticks , a hot track off The Craft that flaunts Gab's metered and breathless delivery. The remix (with no production credit) is a jazzier take on [...]

Today marks one year (!) since I AM FUEL, YOU ARE FRIENDS took its first tentative steps with an initial post, and I've been contentedly rolling along ever since, gathering steam as I go. I know that downloading music (and absorbing all that I have to say here) can sometimes be like drinking from a firehose, so I thought to compile you a 20-song mix of my absolutely favorite tracks that I have featured in the first year of this blog. Some of these tunes I posted up way at the beginning when I [...]
In the second of a three-part series covering Lollapalooza 2006, we check out Wolfmother, Calexico, Sonic Youth, Blackalicious, Dresden Dolls, and the Flaming Lips. And we've got photos of New Pornographers and Kanye West, too.
Ahhh yes. Day #2 of Lollapalooza Preview. This is an especially good one. The same guidelines apply here as they did for the Day 1 preview. Here's a refresher in case you forgot/don't want to scroll down: -Artists are split up by the time period they're playing. -If an artist is marked with a double asterisk (**), it means the artist is great and you should make an effort to see their set. -If an artist is in BOLD, it means if you absolutely have to make a choice, then I recommend you go and see that artist. -Click on [...]

The guys over at All Things Go made this mixtape . It's not actually mixed together, you can just download each individul song... The best part is they've posted the lyrics to: Blackalicious - Alphabet Aerobics Artificial amateurs, aren't at all amazing Analytically, I assault, animate things Broken barriers bounded by the bomb beat Buildings are broken, basically I'm bombarding Casually create catastrophes, casualties Cancelling cats got their canopies [...]

With the sun shining all weekend, I wanted to post some music to facilitate the good vibes so here you go.. Cut Chemist & This Kid named Miles - SNT (Live at Peacepipe) I downloaded this track off the net maybe 8 years ago. It's from Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5) and this Kid named Miles with some nice samples and scratching over the top. [...]
