So far we've been fairly impressed with what San Francisco's Blackbird Blackbird has released this year. It's beyond pure bedroom synthpop, the music sounds blurred and woozily graphic, like an melted down Ultravox record, then painstakingly reconstructed and reinterpreted. So, cover songs? It's almost a taboo term in the music blogosphere. It almost goes without saying that everyone who makes a post about them has to start with 'I'm not usually a fan of covers but...". I don't see the big problem; I'm a massive fan of remixes and covers. Brooklyn dream pop collective Twin Sister have announced physical releases for their two EPs, which will drop September 20th on Domino Records in the UK. Both Vampires With Dreaming Kids and Color Your Life are still available for free download at the band's website, as is the single 'All Around and Away We Go' which will drop a little over a month (November 20th) later on the Doublesix imprint. Oh man.. more Summer music just in time for Fall. My timing has always been awesome like that so I suppose I should be used to it. Sunvisor sounds to me like Washed Out and Animal Collective getting super high together in an Eighties movie.
