The homie Johnathan Kochis wrote about Miami MC/producer Spaceghostpurrp a couple months ago but my dumb ass didn't notice Purrp until he dropped Blackland Radio 66.6 (1991) . Purrp's beats and rhymes on Blackland can best be described as the sound of DJ Paul and Juicy J freestyling over a game of Mortal Kombat in a Tennessee basement in the early '90s. Guttural beats, gonzo samples, sex and death crazed rhymes, and a serious early '90s Southern rap fetish. The raucous "Suck a Dick for 2011" is an update of an old non-album [...]

It's sort of like the WTO without the human rights violations. This month we've welcomed French blog SoundNation and Denmark's All Scandinavian to bring the total participation to 24 nations. Our contribution this month includes a beautiful, budding track from Florida-based Viernes . Nathaniel's decree [...]

Disfruta... [...]

Once a month the Music Alliance Pact brings bloggers around the globe together and, by heck, that time is now. The number of countries in MAP stands at a record high of 24 after we tempted ambassadors from Denmark ( All Scandinavian ) and France ( SoundNation ) to join our gang with the promise of riches beyond their wildest dreams. As Scotland's representatives, The Pop Cop has something very special from We Were [...]

Having previously performed alongside Bob Dylan, Athlete and Tunng under the name Murphy Kid & The Bad Luck Band, Blacklands was launched last year by Al Murphy and his revolving roster of musicians. 'The Wytchwood EP' is the first fruits of their labour, recorded at an old farmhouse on the North Yorkshire Moors. The four songs here were indubitably influenced by the rural isolation of the moors, the rousing folk of the title track begging to be played in front of a crackling fire. The EP really comes into its own on the more tender songs with 'Listen [...]

Each Friday I'm going to dig through my cd collection and talk about a cd that really should be available for purchase, but alas and alack is gone daddy gone. This week is bLaCKlaNDs by bLaCKlaNDs George Cicci was a hero of the Morgantown W. VA music scene having fronted the local punk band Dreagerman. However, it was his work as the ambient project bLaCKlaNDs that would catch my ears in the late 90s. The record shared much of the same [...]
