How we missed this in our in-box (from way back in March) is beyond us, but miss it we did. We need to right that wrong! Black Manila have featured a few times on MM with their blend of classic west coast garage riffs, Detroit proto-punk and British charm, that combined makes a heady and compelling marriage. To celebrate the recent release of their debut single Shake That Thing , they are giving away the infectious and addictive Père Lachaise as a free download. For anyone enthralled by the [...]
Garage Rock is making an amazing come back and Black Manila are riding that wave right into our earholes with their two new singles Shake that Thing and Hoverfly. Normally, I would chose the stronger of the two tracks and post about only one but they are too good to leave one out. In both songs, Black Manila's funky distorted guitar riffs remind me of The Stooges who Black Manila cites as influence. Anyways whether you are looking for a solid road trip song for your spring breaks or looking to have a Rock n Roll [...]

This is the lead track on a seven inch single which will be released through R.I.P. Records on 1st April . You can pre-order it for a very reasonable £5 from their Bandcamp page. I think I'm right in saying Black Manila are a London band but don't quote me on that as according to the aforementioned Bandcamp page they have three gigs coming up in places as diverse as : April 15th - Berlin, Germany - White Trash Fast Food April 19th - [...]

"Black Manila are three young punks from South London who have spent their formative years honing their love of music by diving into the fun and free world of garage rock & roll. As well as an extremely limited edition sold out 10” released through the Jaguar Shoes Collective, the band have truly captured the respect and attention of the capital's alt-rock underground with their accomplished yet raucous live shows. Fusing together sunny west coast garage riffs with a distinctly British charm and swagger, Black Manila create one of the few bridges between London and the flourishing garage scene across [...]

We seem to have a bit of a 'black' theme going on with recent posts on Black Hay , the Black Angels , Blackbird & The Storm and Blackwater Fever . Entirely appropriate then that we should bring you the video for the new single from South London's Black Manila titled Shake That Thing . The band have featured on MM a few times over the past year and there can be few bands who are so assuredly able to meld the garage riffs of the sunny west [...]

Black Manila is a teenage garage-punk trio from South London. The group just dropped a tasteless video for its debut single " Shake That Thing ." The track will be released as a 73 on upstart imprint RIP Records . The release is scheduled to drop on April 1. Black Manila may be in need of a new director of video content, but what they lack in production quality they compensate for in balls-out ferocity. The band has a handful of singles available for streaming via Bandcamp . Black Manila's sound is a blues-heavy, fuzz pop focus with [...]

Yep, it is that time again. We've trawled back through all our e-mails, favourite blogs, and new music discoveries to bring you up to date with all that's been good on the MM stereo recently. Because of the time of year it includes a few we missed from way back before Christmas, but which still more than deserve some ear-time - you may have missed them too. Rummage around. Dig in. This is only Part 1 - more coming tomorrow... The first offering is from Western Medication's 73 EP (released Jan 29th) is a [...]
South London trio Black Manila are soon to release their debut single 'June 952. Strange that, considering the quality of their earlier slew of free downloads. little has changed thankfully, as they continue their quest, resurrecting the licks, dirty guitar riffs and gravelly tones of garage rock bands of old. 'June 952 sees gravel-pit vocals [...]

South London's Black Manila are a three piece Garage/Psych band who have just released their new single "Fiasco" backed with the eight minute acoustic-grinder "England" as a free digital download . Formed in 2010, the band released their debut 103 "Reno Rush"/"Happiness" in January last year, via Big Dirty Engine Records. Since then, they have toured France and Italy and have been busy in the studio writing and recording new material. The first fruits of their endeavours is this two track single produced by Selfish C*nt’s Patrick Constable. [...]
Formed in 2010, Black Manila are a London based garage rock band, resurrecting the licks, dirty guitar riffs and gravelly tones of old fashioned garage rock jams. The band already have a few single releases under their belt but with ‘Fiasco’ and b-side ‘England', they have really found a groove. 'Fiasco' is a ferocious rock-out, sneering vocals sithe through a haze of repetitive guitars while [...]

In this edition: Flights are now Foreign Films, Discover Melbourne's Sans Gras, tracks from Black Manila, Clare and the Reasons, The Fades, and Fossil Collective, and videos from Ingrid Michaelson, Lostego, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Fossil Collective. Flights are now Foreign Films We featured the single, "Taller," on our Biscuits and Gravy mix last month. We just realized that the Flights is now Foreign Films, and that they're offering their EP, "Anywhere But Where I am" through Bandcamp where you can pay what you want [...]

Here are a few tasty streams for you to hit the play button on, and a couple to download too. First, some new blissed-out, hypnotic psychedelia from White Fence who have a new three track single out titled Green Balloon via Sexbeat Records in Europe - limited to 500 vinyl copies, and we've just pre-ordered one of them... a Next up is the altogether more aggressive and fractured punk beats of Death Grips . I've Seen Footage is another taste [...]
For reasons still unknown to me, I do very much like the new sounds of Black Manila, from the faraway land of England. Perhaps because I am feeling a little scuzzy myself, this particular brand of rock seems likely to grant me embarrassment-free dancing opportunities at the next convenient concert of theirs. I would jangle my feets and loosen my [...]

SINGLE REVIEW: We like our jangle garage psyche and this track by Black Manila called "Fiasco" is right in the sweet spot of all groovy things 602s. Naming their top 5 influential bands as The Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, T-Rex, The Stooges and John Lee Hooker. These are some pretty big corner stones that Liam Ramsden, Conrad Armstrong and Gareth Hoskins aka Sun King are taking on but would also say something a little New Wave is ingrained too. This new track by them is less drone than the VU with more of a sculptured song as there [...]
