Have you ever tasted ketchup that’s gone bad? I hadn’t, until a couple weeks ago. Ketchup ferments, and although the effect isn’t necessarily bad—if anything it’s sweeter—there’s an undeniable sensation of something not right, of ... read more

Some murky water epic sad shit courtesy of the track Black Water by Berlin based artist Apparat. Liking the ambient samples and the unconventional instrumentation. A lot of the focus here is on the overall sound rather than the beats. The build up. The climax that never ends. It is like heroin for your ears. On a day I would much rather destroy my self than reach for any small self-improvement. I want to scream like Rain Man when he can't watch People's Court, fuck everything. http://soundcloud.com/mutereco rds/apparat-black-water-1 http://soundcloud.com/apparat [...]

Black Water an indie rock band from New Jersey in the USA comprises of Lloyd L. Naideck , Gary Laurie , Adam N. Copeland , and Gerry Griffin Black Water Having spent more than a moment discussing the NDAA legislation I fell over Black Water and can't help to make a connection between the world of corruption and the world of music or to put it another way - "The music business is a [...]

Bos Angeles - in the process of looking for a label to put their music out - have dropped new track "Pretend For You" and it would be fair to say it's a bit different from their usual style. continue reading >>

The Germans did it again! Dj Koze remixed Apparat's Black Water and, as expected, it is amazing! Enjoy it on soundcloud and buy the Candil De La Calle 12 Inch here. Video: Apparat - Candil De La Calle (MTV Live Session)

Rock chick, The Coppertone have released a video for their track Black Water .
Hear The Track HereChris De Ieso appears to be the band, unless my hearing has been severely disrupted by last weeks flu, and I shamefacedly admit that at first I thought it was Soundclick's Thomas J Marchant in yet another guise - so similar are the styles. This is very much a fleeting impression because when you actually start to listen with extended ears (as it were) there are quite distinct

★★★★☆ The Burden Brothers kick off their own commemorative remix party, another chapter in an illustrious 20-year history, to follow their vinyl issue Revisited series, with uncompromising forward-thinking tech-house/techno sound-offs "Dema" and "Meridian." Think Octave One and "Blackwater" is always in close attendance, and it’s Alter Ego who are given the keys to unlocking the crown jewels, doing a decent, uppity house job of updating/keeping devotees happy. Whether through low furrowing from Sandwell District’s progressive raising of spirits, Aril Brikha’s sleek and slimline punch and efficiency, and Cari Lekebusch and Ken Ishii [...]

Imagine my dismay, dear readers, when I did a search on this very site and noticed that we appear to not yet be on that War On Drugs hype. Although I grant it possible we got to 'em on the old site, but my paygrade doesn't finance that level of research... Anyways, War On Drugs, got together in 2005 in Philly, their latest album Slave Ambient is one of my favorite albums of last year, and the last several even. (Although I'll be the first to admit I'm a little behind the [...]
In honor of tonight's Timber Timbre show @ St. Jean Baptiste Church (309 Rachel East) right here in Montreal, may I present to you, every music videos produced (so far) from my favorite Canadian album released this year and quite possibly for 2011 itself, "Creep On Creepin' On". Some really beautiful work from some very talented people. "Woman" Directed by Kate [...]

There's something about classic sampling mixed with crunchy bass that just works so well. Today I've got a sick new glith / dubstep remix of The Doobie Brothers - Black Water. This track does a good job keeping the vibe of the original, but pumped full of glitched out bass. It's got a slower 100BPM speed, giving it a real funky sound, with some drops that make it hard not to move around. Turn the bass up, enjoy! Yoofs - 12 My friend Mike, from Bournemouth blog This Scene Isn’t Dead (who put on Bos Angeles ’ first show in the Spring), also has a lo-fi project, by name of Yoofs . They’ve been turning out some glistening 60s numbers these past few months, enough to have earnt them shows with Real Estate and Spectrals last week. All from the comfort of Bournemouth’s famous blackwater caravan, that’s some pretty nice work. This latest track, ‘12’, which they wrote and recorded over the weekend, has really won me over. [...]

Satan's favorite country rock band's EP begins with a take on Gallows Pole, the song made famous by Led Zeppelin. But unlike Plant and Page, who sanitized the song into one about how the doomed man was such a stud that all the girls wanted to rescue him despite his crimes, Blackwater Jukebox make a grimy, rough bounce and the end is never in doubt: This guy's gonna die. On the very next cut, That Voodoo Shit, the album takes a left turn at breakbeat and does a dusty rap. Kind of. It's something that sounds like Junior Senior on [...]
This guys needs no introduction: Mr. Sascha Ring is back with a new album called "The Devil's Walk" and this is the video for his track "Black Water"! The video was directed by Ben Reed, who has also worked with artists like Joan as a Policewoman, The Wave Pictures, James Yuill, Mumdance etc. Check it [...]

German electronic producer/artist Sascha Ring has lead a busy career since 2001 recording under the name Apparat. 2011 sees his eighth release with The Devil's Walk , an ambient album lead by Ring's quiet, sensitive vocals and arrangements. Melancholy fuels standout tracks "Songs of Los" and "Black Water" from start to finish, as they both near the edge of a disastrous emotional outburst. Somehow, Ring keeps his feelings restrained for two great, electronic power ballads. Apparat- "Song of Los" Apparat- "Black water"

More sweet noisy sounds out of Bournemouth, you say? Normally I would say couldn't be, they've already got Yoofs & Bos Angeles , but we were turned on to Blackwater the other day, and subsequently, discovered a crop of new jams produced by one of Bos Angeles . The three jams they've got up on Soundcloud are all filled with cymbals and noised-masked melodies, excellent two-minute garage-rock jams. But the outstanding Losing Sleep has the biggest sound of all, the tumbling cymbals, [...]
