She's been hosting anniversary parties across this great nation to celebrate the little fanzine that could. (Read the article here ). The Portland party is going down on Wednesday, May 30, at Bunk Bar with Joe Pernice, the Softies, Lois, and Selector Dub Narcotic (Calvin Johnson on the [...]
nevver : Blah Blah Blah Pretty much.

If you were to ask folks on either coast to describe the Midwest, they'd likely tell you that it consists exclusively of sleepy farm towns and insignificant flyover markets devoid of excitement or character. While to some extent this might be true, major metro areas such as Chicago are a thriving cultural hotbed rich with history, pride, and a desire to share its artistic vision with the rest of the world. With Chicago's musical past deeply rooted in jazz and the blues, the Windy City Sound evolved significantly through much of the 20th Century to include elements of soul, rock, [...]

A little while back we announced that little old 'Blah Blah Blah' had been confirmed as a fully fledged partner for Glade 2012 alongside our fellow blogging and label wielding peers Discobelle & Sonic Router . Naturally this piece of news is probably more exciting to us than it is to you, however it does mean that over the next 2-3 months we will be posting all sorts of exclusive Glade related stuff and giveaways, which given the current line up announcement is as good a reason as any to keep checking back. Sliding past the queue of short skirts, chinos and the odd dinosaur costume, Brighton's loudest establishment under the arches was so rammed, buzzing and lively it could have knocked the old pier off its last legs for good… The BlahBlahBlah DJs reigned tall over the moistening crowd. After the recent creation of their own record label, these champion events organisers and musical kings never allow an ounce of disappointment… Knocking out dance riddled electro beats, the BlahBlahBlah crew have the ability to make the Brighton kids shuffle so hard in their luminous [...]

Like there was any doubt we'd be into this? Not only does Chicago band Blah Blah Blah totally nail the name, they come with a sound that might just be our musical perfect match. The nods to soul & R&B in the rhythm track, the dream pop guitar textures, the history-of-British-rock melodic palette. It's like if our blog formed a band and it might sorta sound like this BLAH BLAH BLAH. blahblahblahscience loves Blah Blah Blah. Blah Blah Blah - Soon As I Get Home Tonight Blah Blah [...]
1. Madonna last night: Partly great, partly terrible, musically worthless, totally worth watching. 2. MIA 's middle finger: What Sasha Frere-Jones said . 3. LMFAO : No. No. No no no. I do not accept this package. Return to sender immediately. 4. The two local release shows I caught this weekend— Laura Gibson 's and Lost Lander 's—were positively outstanding. The one I missed—Neal Morgan—sounds like it was just as good. 5. Lana Del Rey : Glad to see that SNL seems to [...]
Recently the folks at BBC Radio 6 Music asked us to arrange a setlist for one of their Friday afternoon programs. Of the seven tracks selected, one was "Soon As I Get Home Tonight" from the Chicago rock-quartet Blah Blah Blah . How convenient that just a few days later, a video for the song would drop. This short film follows Phil Ferguson (keys/guitar) around the city of Chicago as he barters and trades his way up the trinket totem pole in an effort to impress a fair dame. Simple, yet effective. Pay close attention for a [...]
Dreamy Brit pop-esque rockers Blah Blah Blah have returned with a new video for their single "As Soon As I Get Home Tonight," from their album Thank You Thank You . The video is light-hearted enough to match the upbeat mood of the song. It features keyboardist Phill Ferguson going for a stroll around Chicago, proving that bartering is alive and well as he trades harmonicas for wigs and cat lamps for nunchucks. I would have kept that lamp, bro. "As Soon As I Get Home Tonight" is available for free download via [...]

Things have been progressing nicely for Cork's REID since 2012 hit. I've really enjoyed what I've heard from Cork producer (Eoghan) REID over the past year. From his debut EP last summer to numerous remixes, he's got a pretty good hit rate. And in the past week he's made another two remixes to add to his catalogue. The first is a [Read more]
Chicago retro rockers Blah Blah Blah put their stylish stamp on Chic-A-Go-Go by getting down and getting crazy, in a very adorable way. The group performed "Soon As I Get Home Tonight" from its recent EP Thank You Thank You . During the interview portion with Miss Mia, singer Solomon Moss and keyboardist Phill Ferguson nickname their sound as "ballroom alternative." We'd have to agree.

Back in July, I wrote about Cork producer REID . The 22 year-old is part of a new breed of emerging electronic Irish producers (

The city of Brighton is a great hub for the culture of music in the UK. Not only is it the home of The Recommender, but in an urban space where everything and everyone is within walking distance, we find ourselves surrounded by promoters, labels, writers, venues, musicians and of course other music bloggers. One of those music blogs is closely associated with us here at Recommender Towers, the excellent Blah Blah Blah . They've been delivering top-drawer dance and electronic music from the edges of those genres for many years now. We recently met up with its founder, [...]

In the 4 years since Blah Blah Blah's first party in June 2007 we have continually pushed the boundaries of electronic music through both our blog and UK based parties. Hosting the likes of Chromeo, Joy Orbison, Fake Blood, A-Trak, Night Slugs, Julio Bashmore, Caribou, TEED, among many others, has resulted in our parties being voted in the Top Ten Club Nights In The UK by the Independent & Guardian, as well as earning the blog a collaborative partnership with the 2011 Exit Festival. Furthermore our social networks are among the largest of any blog, with our Facebook Fan Page [...]

Eh, I don't think that's the right use of the word "Redux." But regardless, before I begin writing about DC's second week of rebooted releases, I figured I'd follow up on my last blog post with these thoughts: Action Comics #1 ACTION COMICS Action Comics #1 was better than I expected. It kept me interested in Superman [...]

As my last post explained in great detail, there have been some changes at DC Comics. Detective Comics #1 DC is in the midst of relaunching its comics line with 52 new number 1 issues, the first 13 of which came out last Wednesday. What follows are some thoughts on a a few of those first 13 titles to come out. [...]

What a year the men of Blah Blah Blah have had. One summer ago they were playing street festival side stages in Chicago. A year later this past July they rocked a post Pitchfork Festival party alongside Theophilus London and Kenna . A testament to hard work and talent. With a solid round of Windy City performances under their belt, the quartet is hitting the road west in support of their second EP release, Thank You, Thank You (snag that here on iTunes ). Sample a track entitled [...]
