Say what you want about Damon Dash , I f-cks with this project. It's a great idea: indie rock band The Black Keys is set to release a rap/rock album entitled Blak Roc featuring MC's such as Q-Tip , Ludacris , Raekwon , RZA , Billy Danze ( M.O.P. ), Pharoahe Monch & ODB on a label set up by Dash specifically for this project. While the members of The Black Keys are both busy touring with their solo projects this fall, the Akron-based act did manage to make their way into the recording studio this summer for an interesting collaborative project they've dubbed Blakroc . The duo, who are known for their fuzzy blues-rock, have teamed up with an all-star roster from the world of hip hop that includes Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Pharoahe Monch and Ludacris. The results will be heard on the collective's self-titled debut , which hits stores on November 27. [...]

Last week, news filtered through that mighty rockers The Black Keys had unveiled plans to release an album under the name Blakroc, featuring a high profile list of collaborators from the deep, dark depths of the world of hip hop. If that isn't a story in itself - well, it is actually... read it here - the Blakroc tale has developed a bit of a twist. So, what are your bets on who is on board to release this album? Perhaps a forward-thinking independent rock imprint with a bit of cash? Or a major label with [...]

The group should be called "Eleven," and not Blakroc. Eleven artists, eleven days in the studio, and probably +1 better than 10/10 rating. Just when you thought that Ohio had solidified itself as source of good music with The Black Keys and Kid Cudi--out comes Blakroc the newest super group album since N.A.S.A. TwentyFourBitNews gave me the heads up on the album planned to be released the day after Thanksgiving, aka Black Friday--fitting, no? There is one track available at XXL , thanks to Consequence of Sounds. [...]
The Black Keys - Hoochie Coo feat. Mos Def & Jim Jones This is the first buzz song for the new album by The Black Keys, Blakroc. As I mentioned in an earlier post, they're an Ohio-based blues-rock duo who are collaborating with a slew of rappers for their upcoming album. This track makes me [...]
Yes, you read that right, Jim Jones (yup, this Jim Jones) and The Black Keys are teaming up as Blakroc to bring you a collabo album for the ages. The project, spearheaded by the Keys, Damon Dash, J. Jones and the Keys' manager, features a ridiculously impressive guest list including...well, ...
My prayers have been answered. Literally just yesterday, I asked in a post for more recorded hip-hop to be backed up by talented bands, and now I've got it. The Black Keys are an Ohio-based blues-rock duo and they will be releasing a collaboration project with a motherload of incredible rappers called Blakroc on November 27 [...]

Entitled Blakroc , the collaboration's first album is due out November 27th. Featured guests include Mos Def , RZA , Raekwon , Q-Tip , [...]

When I was a youngster, my mother/father/teacher/authorit y figure of some sort told me not to judge a book by it's cover. This is good advice for all areas of life, of course, but it's particularly handy when it comes to music - because if I was guilty of regularly slipping into judgemental mode while looking for fresh tunes, chances are I wouldn't have found The Black Keys . I'll admit that I'm a Black Keys late comer. In fact, I only discovered the delights of the Akron, Ohio-based duo of guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney [...]

Here in Ohio, the rumors of a Black Keys produced Hip Hop project intially started by a Jim Jones on Twitter awhile back are becoming a reality by Patrick Carney twittering " Blakroc" a few hours ago. The current word swinging around Columbus graffiti and weirdo creep circles about the about Blackroc project like chains and exhaust is this: Blacroc is a hip hop album produced the Black Keys that features Rza, Raekwon, Mos Def, Jim Jones, Pharoah Monch, Q-tip, Ludacris, ODB, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Noe and Nicole Wray.
