In case you were feeling like your day was just a bit too light, I implore you to dive into Blawan 's 65 minute live recording from Boiler Room #92 . Buckle up. Boiler Room #92, Blawan

Boiler Room is an institution. That's the best way to put it for anyone who's into bass music, or dance music in general. It's a live performance/radio hybrid that brings the best of the best DJs and producers to the everyone on the web via a live stream and podcasts. The names BR has strung together to perform are massive, albeit more often than not they're only massive to a select group of people who listen to the kind of music they cater to. The lineup is just as impressive tonight as it usually is, but the addition of Grimes [...]

Glade Festival was already looking quite flavour-sum with Sven Vath, Andy C, Rusko, Stanton Warriors, Boddika , Jimmy Edgar (Live), Mosca , and Eats Everything among others all confirmed to appear, however despite this nicely seasoned line up Glade have decided spice things up further with a pungent mix of the world's finest Techno artists. Marcel Dettmann, Levon Vincent, Blawan, Function, and Space Dimension Controller have all been confirmed for the primed and loaded Pryo-mid Stage, making Glade the most tantalising of underground electronic festivals in 2012. Buzz girl of the moment, Grimes aka Claire Boucher is set to be channelling 'UK Bass Music' for her next album - revealed in a recent interview with Pedestrain.tv . The next record would follow the highly successful 'Visions' record released release earlier this year. To further cement things she also hinted at a potential collaboration with UK bass lad Blawan - who is signed to the legendary R & S Record Label (Aphex Twin, Jaydee, Optimo) and took out Resident [...]

The previous month has seen some hyped releases on the "Big-H" labels with the likes of Scuba's album naturally on Hotflush, Burial's Ep unspurpringly on Hyperdub and Objekt's 2-side single deservingly on Hessle. We've also seen a delayed return from Untold's Hemlock label with a very interesting Randomer EP. Coincidences? Almost certainly. Tracks from the aforementioned feature alongside my other picks of the month in a bpm twiddling mix. Although strictly speaking there are a couple in there from January which I missed but had to put in due to their magnificence (two tracks from Todd Terje's "Its The Arps" [...]

Some UK Garage style house for you with a disco remix as well. I'm dead locked as to which version I prefer. Blawan - Getting Me Down Blawan - Getting Me Down (Futurewife's Deaddisco Mix) Blawan - Getting Me Down (Futurewife's Extended Deaddisco Mix) by Futurewife
I wish I had done a post on Yorkshire's Jamie Roberts AKA Blawan earlier. His single ' Getting Me Down ' ( hitting number five on an Earmilk 2011 top one hundred list ), was easily one of my favourite songs of last year, and this is only the tip of the iceberg (hype, hype, hype). I can promise (pinky swear), that you will be hearing a lot more of this guy in the next few months. For the past year, he has been pushing out strong and steady material for electronic taste making labels [...]

The Dirty Weekender kicks off at the Pavilion this weekend and who better to get the party started than the one and only Jape. You don't need any introduction to the man who won the Choice Prize a few years back, is nominated again for Ocean Of Frequency and well, [Read more]

For those of you who are new to the site, this is a list of my favourite dance music from the last year. It's not exclusively remixes, and yes, you can argue you could dance to the songs in the Top Tracks list too. Out in the Streets - Africa HiTech The Look (Koreless remix) - Jacques Greene Surph - Rustie Sketch - Synkro Sicko Cell - Joy Orbison Rolling In The Deep (Jamie xx Shuffle) [...]

Kapow! It's Friday Bangers time. This weeks selection of tunes comes courtesy of AU Magazine Editor Chris Jones , in a roundabout sort of way. We were listening to the Imprintthisonyourmind 'Best Of 20112 podcast in the AU office, which featured Paul McCarthy and Chris as special guests, selecting some of their favourite tracks of the year. We didn't really want to listen to the podcast, but Chris forced the office to put it on because, as he said, "my voice is silken like chocolate, just sit back and enjoy it". Turned out [...]

It' safe to say that Mary Anne Hobbs was a very busy lady on XFM over the holiday season. Not only did she play all the best tunes of the year, she also lined up some of the best mixes we heard in 2011. Hopefully you will have already checked out the Scuba mix from last week and lets just say this one might even surpass it. Karenn is the combination of producers Blawan and Pariah from the R&S records stable. Both these [...]

Karenn Mix - Xfm 24/12/11 by Mary Anne Hobbs on Mixcloud UK producers Blawan and Pariah teamed up as Karenn last weekend for a new mix for Mary Anne Hobbs' XFM program. I discussed Blawan's style progression a few weeks back when the track "Shader" surfaced, and with this new mix, we get even more insight in to the hotly tipped producer's influences at the moment. His new duo with Pariah takes the more industrial [...]
The discussion in regards to the judging criteria for this chart was a bigger process than putting together the chart itself. How do you weigh commercial success against production value? We tended to shy away from this year's trends and focus on quality behind the mixing desk. This list isn't to be viewed so much [...]
The discussion in regards to the judging criteria for this chart was a bigger process than putting together the chart itself. How do you weigh commercial success against production value? We tended to shy away from this year's trends and focus on quality behind the mixing desk. This list isn't to be viewed so much as our take on which songs were the most impactful in 2011 but more so as a countdown of the tracks that will continue to influence the soundscape and look forward to shape the sounds of 2012 and beyond. We look forward to your insight [...]

1. How To Dress Well - Suicide Dream 2 (Elite Gymnastics Baptism) How To Dress Well 's 'Orchestral Versions' EP Just Once produced at least a few gorgeous remixes, but none of them stuck with me as much as Elite Gymnastics ' – themselves responsible for two of my favourite records of the year, Neu '92 & RUIN . The genius of EG's rework lies in the link it draws between HTDW's sparse, emotive take on r&b, and the similarly night bus atmospherics of UK dance [...]
