It could be the sheet rain, the dead raven on our doorstep or the fact that we've broken out the winter coats, but music is starting to feel a bit like the end of Ghostbusters. Before they even strike a note Blessure Grave warn of serious injury and they do not shy from this pitch black broadcast. Stumble into the darkness below then wallow in the mixtape they made for Actual Pain. Zoooool.

San Diego's Blessure Grave quickly follow up a tape on Night People with the Learn to Love the Rope 12" on Captured Tracks. Rounding up the dark and foreboding corners of new wave, the band don't exactly give off any sunny California vibes though the title should give a clear indication in that respect. Four originals and one pretty solid Shadow Ring cover that slip by almost too quickly. Dour but not sullen, the songs have a way of reveling in misery with out making the band seem on any sort of self-pity trip. This one chocks up [...]
Blessure Grave - Insecurity Night People are certainly know as purveyors of some just, well, scary and super dark shit (in a good way of course) and its particularly good when it's directed as pop, drippy . This Blessure Grave cassette is real capricious considering how generally not-okay it is to sound like or reference Joy Division, but I guess more than just reference it feels like a flippin' séance done way out in the black and white woods, not that they're hiding, just taking some time out with history and it's all [...]

Not all of Stereogum's favorite sounds conform to what folks expect us to cover. In this space, resident Bananafish fetishist Brandon Stosuy focuses on bands, albums, singles, and villages in Sweden that may otherwise pass by unnoticed. This installment's virtual milk crate contains Blessure Grave and Cro Magnon . This time I wanted to focus on two duos from different coasts, San Diego's Blessure Grave and Lafayette, Indiana's Cro Magnon. Blessure Grave got mentioned in passing in the Crocodiles BTW for their split 12" with the Crocs and [...]

This is not a review. Blessure Grave is without a doubt one of my favorite listening obsessions for the last month (plus). Last.fm me. I was given the bleasure of an early preview to their upcoming release on __ ?? __ records and this is what I think: Pure sunny California goth punk sedation. Forget the recent exposure of other unnamed San Diego outfits, Blessure Grave blows them all out of the water. Sure I'm favorable towards BG's self-loathing interests... they're akin to mine. But who [...]
