The beyond-soulful duo of Miles Bonny and B.Lewis just dropped their lush new EP, Egg Black , last month and they're giving it a smooth push today with some visuals for single " Bottom to Top ". As corny as it is to say the video is "sexy" and whatnot, that's exactly what it is. And, hell, that goes for their music, too, as Egg Black is a certified baby-making soundtrack. It's also pretty trippy, hence the smoke effects and random cuts. Anyway, next time someone says R&B/soul is dead, punch 'em in the face with this [...]
We tend to gush whenever B.Lewis graces our virtual pages with a new project. And why not? Dude's consistency is off the charts, be it on his solo releases or collaborations . We're getting a case of the former here with Revised Interpretations Vol. 1 , a 10-track collection of remixes of everyone from Pusha T and Tyler, the Creator to Beyonce and Little Dragon . As is normally the case with releases like these, it gives us a chance to hear some of our favorite and, more importantly, least favorite [...]

Here's the second single from Miles Bonny and B. Lewis' Egg Black EP which was supposed to be out on March 6 but has obviously been held back a little for some reason. In the

SXSW has officially begun! It's hard to believe that it's been two years since our Quality! showcase at SXSW. This year, we've teamed up with Stones Throw and Insect Records to put together a really dope producer showcase. We've got some amazing talent on board: Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dudley Perkins, B. Lewis, Thelonious Martin, Jonwayne, Computer Jay, Jonti, Kone, SelfSays, Hawthorne Headhunters, Soundfounders and more. It's going to be a lovely day of good music, drinks and live artwork at the Volstead. Fortunately, most of the [...]

Two b3sci faves connect as KC soul crooner Miles Bonny jumps on new production from West Coast artist B.Lewis. "Bottom To Top" is a 3:24 full submersion experience in that futuristic soul. B.Lewis' spacey but warm production layers form the perfect bed for Miles' float-on-top-the-mix vocal tones. Spin "Bottom To Top" below. Bottom To Top by Miles Bonny x B.Lewis Miles Bonny ( Facebook ) Rating 8.2
Miles Bonny and B.Lewis just dropped "Bottom To Top", the first single from their forthcoming collaborative EP, and it's destined to get some serious mileage here at the crib. B.Lewis' production uses stadium-sized percussion and monstrously weighty bass, softening the edges with washed-out, reverb-drenched synths and keeping your attention with subtle, occasional glitches. Miles Bonny's vocals, vaguely reminiscent of Cody Chestnutt but with a slightly smokier, raspier edge, kick "Bottom To Top" into full-on future-soul high gear. Taking the often harsh, coarse textures of this kind of experimental production and melding it with smooth, soulful vocals is [...]

I see remixing a song like making a meal. If you use too much of that one spice, something bad happens, people get sick, allergic reactions, or something. Look, I don't really cook. But with a remix you want them to be able to hear a bit of the original. Because if it doesn't have it, it's not really a remix, it's an entirely new song. B.Lewis takes Robert Glasper Experiment 's "Move Love" and he remixes it. And it sounds good, and there's still some piano in there from Robert Glasper, so you're still listening to [...]
[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] Here in San Jose I throw a monthly party called Treatment. One of our regular members, Brad Lewis otherwise known as B.Lewis , just dropped this new song/video for his forthcoming EP Egg Black with singer Miles Bonny . Keep a keen eye out for them. Download the track here .
This came as a nice little surprise. Miles Bonny and B. Lewis have got together to make an EP titled Egg Black EP. The first single is this little number Together Forever which is available
Oh hell yeah, y'all. It appears that we have a new project to look forward to from one of our favorite producers, B.Lewis . He and the always-smooth Miles Bonny are working on the Egg Black EP, which is due out March 6. And, fittingly, they dished out this uber-romantic tune, "Together Forever", that WILL make its way onto your Valentine's Day playlist. Just don't shoot me if you listen to this and you're single. Hit the skip to stream/download the track. Download: Miles Bonny & B.Lewis [...]

It's a little more than an honor to have Gavin Handley from Jus Like Music contribute to our Substitute Teachers series. The label started out as a blog, and eventually blossomed into a roster of forward thinking artists who are currently pushing the boundaries of what electronic music can be. He also co-hosts a fantastic radio show on NTS that showcases his phenomenal taste in music. This mix consists entirely of Jus Like Music releases, and all of these artists have material that you must [...]

THREE B3SCI FAVS ON ONE TRACK! The stars do really align, as the homie B.Lewis dials Shadow and Yukimi's "Scale It Back" into the stratosphere. Starting the mix with just an a capella Yukimi vocal (listen to Yukimi just shred that melody), the track then builds into an uplifting power jam, complete with spacey electronics and scaled up chords. DJ Shadow - Scale It Back (Feat. Yukimi Nagano) (B.Lewis Remix) B.Lewis ( Facebook ) Rating [...]
Disclaimer: The 25 artists featured on this list categorically transcend the traditional notions of instrumental music- and where boom-bap plays any role, the traditional notions of hip-hop. Despite the ambitious efforts of bloggers and critics, they are also impossible to genrify. Still, a few things are certain. Most of them have either been compared to or influenced by the still omnipresent J Dilla, in many ways the torchbearer of their sound. They are audiophiles. They know how to handle their varying labs of MPCs, vintage analogue keyboards, drums, guitars, field recordings, and future sounds. They piece together collages [...]

It's been a while since we did a Blind I staff compilation. These are always a joy to put together, because we all take our time hand-picking the music. Only the person who zips it up (in this case it was me) gets to listen to the compilation in its entirety before it gets posted so it remains a mystery for most of the staff until it's complete. We definitely bring our different flavors and styles to Blind I for the Winter . There are some upbeat songs, but overall it has [...]
At Potholes we love us some B. Lewis joints. Whether he's creating some robotic, otherworldly synth beats or putting together a " massive layered audio event " he always seems to impress. He likes to tow the line between hip-hop and electronic bliss and See-Saw Kids is no different. For this release he collaborates with Oregon producer Xperiment who adds his own touch to the instrumental madness. I'm all about the track "Alive" because it wakes up on the operating table with vocal slices and dashing percussion elements (i.e. shakers, claps and thumping bass). I never really [...]

B. Lewis' soundcloud has been pretty stale as of late with nothing new for the last six months. So, you can imagine my delight when I saw that he uploaded a new track today. "Smallegs" is a nice little hip hop instrumental that you have to check out. Aside from what he makes available on his soundcloud I don't know anything about this talented producer. If you happen to drop us a line! We love what we hear! Smallegs by B.Lewis
