We're very excited and honored to be premiering "All the Way", the first video from Abandon Jalopy's Death & Joy , which will officially be released on February 14. Abandon Jalopy's Brad Smith spent a few hours on the phone with me a few weeks ago, talking about his new record and answering some questions about Blind Melon , the band that gave Brad his start. I edited it down (the call lasted 2.5 hours!) to about 40 minutes for a new podcast that, [...]
When I saw someone posted this remix of Blind Melon's classic song "No Rain" I was skeptical. I usually don't like it when someone tries to remix a classic. Why mess with a something that works? Well, in this case, the remix also works. It's a super smooth, laid back trip down memory lane... now we just need the bumble bee. Good work, Pumpkin.
Two Blind Melon -related posts in a row. Here's the brand new video from AWOLNATION (featuring Blind Melon's Christopher Thorn on guitar).
Blind Melon bassist Brad Smith will release his second album, Death & Joy , under the name Abandon Jalopy in February. The sophomore release comes more than 10 years after Smith released Mercy and it features guest appearances by fellow Melon members Rogers Stevens and Christopher Thorn as well as Chris Shinn , who sang in Unified Theory , a band featuring Smith and Thorn. Shannon Hoon's daughter, Nico , also makes an appearance on the forthcoming [...]
Here's hoping your trick-or-treat night doesn't get rained out.
My favorite tune from the band's debut and most popular album. A winner through and through.
We apoligize for not treating Thursday the right way, and there was no way we were going to wait a whole week to share some classics. Below are some of my favorite tracks from the 902s. Enjoy your Throwback Thrusday...on Friday. Nana Na Na Nanana... Will Smith - Gettin Jiggy With It Depressing song, but still a classic. Everclear - Father Of Mine [...]
"Tiny Fingers" is lush and exotic, with sounds of broken sitars, brass, and wind chimes backing a gentle acoustic strum. Like everything on Red Velvet Snow Ball, it would be the perfect accompaniment to a day of greenery – lying in the green grass, staring at the green trees swaying above you, and perhaps indulging in something that would make the sky appear green.

I decided a few weeks back that I'd start doing Happy Mondays style posts on a regular basis. The idea is dead simple - post a cheery song to get the week off to a good start. When I put up a shout asking for tune suggestions there were a lot of good choices, but this was my favourite. I'll add up a load of other peoples picks in the future, but Michael Murray gets the props for this weeks selection. The song is 'No Rain' by Blind Melon . I thought it was pretty fitting for [...]
Portland indie rockers Priory self-titled, full-length debut is chock full of lush melodies and lovely harmonies sure to please your earholes.

The Deli is proud to premier last week's NYC Artists of the Month Nico Blues ' "Folk Song Number Two" video, the band's second one after "Living Proof" made its way through the blogosphere and onto MTV. Just wait to see it, the artsy Williamsburg kids won't be able to wrap their minds around this groundbreaking film trick: "Check it out, man, the guitar's a camera!" Take it anywhere, put it in the drum set, put it on your lap in the car, show it down the frozen food aisle, all the places your electric guitar typically wouldn't go. [...]

1. Blur Since they reunited with guitarist Graham Coxon to play London's Hyde Park in 2009, we have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of a US Tour.... which still has yet to come. The release of a new song. "Fool's Day" for Record Store Day in 2010, hinted that Blur may be taking the idea of functioning like a band (studio albums, tours, etc.) seriously again. Blur's lead man, Damon Albarn , swung through Denver last year as part of the [...]
Blind Melon have announced a performance at NYC's Hiro Ballroom . The 21+ event will take place on Friday July 1st. Tickets go on-sale tomorrow. Blind Melon rose to fame
Before last week I had never heard any of their music nor did I know anything about Awolnation . Then, I heard that Blind Melon's guitarist Christopher Thorn will be touring as part of the band all summer so I decided it was time to learn more. Turns out the band is the brainchild of the former singer of a band called Under the Influence of Giants and that Thorn produced that band's last CD so his involvement with Awolnation makes sense. [...]
Never heard of this band until last week when Blind Melon's guitarist Christopher Thorn posted on Facebook that he'll be spending the summer on the road as a member of Awolnation . Turns out that the music isn't at all something I'd expect Thorn to be involved with. Techno-soul is maybe the best way to describe it though Megalithic Symphony is a pretty diverse - and danceable - affair. Fans of MGMT ("People", "Jump on My Shoulders"), The Loyal Divide ("Guilty Filthy Soul") and [...]

"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to join in holy matrimony the love of rock and roll. This is the Reverend Red Hot Chili Peppers Presiding. Please rise as the wedding party approaches, grab both of your ass cheeks and just shake that shit like you don't care no more!" That's the way I see it anyways. What we got here is one balls-out jamfest of damn funky, gritty rock and roll that sounds like the result of a shotgun Tennessee nuptial of the quirk funk of Primus with [...]
These Jersey guys first came to my attention when they told The Aquarian Weekly that they were named after Shannon Hoon's daughter. While I was expecting to hear a Blind Melon tribute band, I was pleasantly surprised to find a mixed bag of indie rock sounds on The Nico Blues "Blame the Boredom, Blame the Basements" and if there's a Blind Melon influence in the music, I can't easily detect it. Then again, I'm not sure I agree with the bands that The Nico Blues have been compared to: [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Like so many celebrity couples these days, Blind Melon have announced that they're back... "kinda, sorta, but not really." It's a reunion that comes with asterisks, disclaimers and footnotes, but it appears to be a reunion nonetheless. This week, the band announced a pair of shows at the end of November, followed by a one-off in February. "We just want to confirm the rumors," Blind Melon posted on their online [...]
After reforming with new Travis Warren in 2006 and then giving him the boot in 2008, it looks like the Blind Melon guys are going to give it another try. There's not a lot of details out there right now, but guitarist Christopher Thorn posted on Facebook that Blind Melon has booked 3 dates (2 in November, 1 in February) and the Blind Melon message board confirms those dates AND reveals that Travis will be given another shot as the lead singer. The band is said to be taking it slow and [...]
