This is why I love writing for The Vinyl District. The singer of San Francisco band Blisses B sends me an email and asks if I would check out his band's sophomore release. Although I have never heard of these guys, it's a sincere email that's personalized so I take a listen. It's a pleasant surprise and now I am hooked. Having heard a lot of great bands in San Francisco, I have to say this is by far one of the finest. These guys makes brilliant unorthodox "pop" music ( I use that term pop VERY [...]
Tweet Ah, the heady days of summer are just around the corner. Soon we'll be lounging on the beach with friends, trying to get a healthy looking tan, eating partially cooked meat stuff from BBQs and drinking beer until the sun goes down. We just need to find the right kind of music to play and this here band is quite happy to provide it. Blisses B are Ben Keegan (guitar, mandolin, keyboard, vocals), Noah Libby (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin), Matt McBride (drums, percussion) and [...]

The warm weather is starting to creep up all around the globe, even though it may still feel like Christmas was yesterday (or is that just me who thinks time really does fly?), but spring is finally upon us. I've recently decided to hang up my cold-weathered, somber songs that get me through winter and bring out those tunes that I just can't get enough of in the spring and summertime. The change in weather calls for a round-up of tunes that will pump you up for spring and lead you to those blissful summer days. With that said, [...]
Just got an email from Blisses B about their friday show. It sounds pretty cool. They're a quartet from sanfran playing on the 15th at the skylark lounge. check check 03 Thirty Days, Sixty Years by BlissesB

Sometimes when I get music from artists, it waits for a rainy day moment-good enough to post, but missing something which makes it a mustpostrightnow jamandahalf. Blisses B was different. On my first listen through I knew it was something special, and the album and the band really highlight the whole concept behind this blog-showcasing music that is unique enough to transcend our individual favorite genres and styles. I asked Noah Libby, the lead singer of Blisses B if I could interview him, and luckily he agreed. Put on some of their great tunes below while you read more about [...]

Blisses B , a San Fran based quartet, sent over their newest album, Thirty Days, Sixty Years , about a week ago, and man, it just feels right. Listening to the eleven tracks feels like a night of tapas in Madrid; each track is a different flavor, but as a whole they result in a happy stomach and a great time. Showing off a wide variety of influences, a little afropop here, little bit of bluegrass there, the end product feels organic. Tracks like this jamandahalf highlight why I am so excited about this group. Meticulously crafted, no [...]

San Francisco quartet Blisses B utilize mandolins, piano, Leslie speakers and banjo to fashion their often upbeat and expansionist melodies. Local Picks is my attempt to cover the enormous amount of music being created in the Bay Area. As Pitchfork has called SF "a location that's quickly threatening to eclipse Brooklyn in the ranks of regional talent", I've got my work cut out for me... il gato (Right Click + Save Link As = Download) il gato - "Burning Red (The Fa Fa Fa Song)" il gato - "Blue Skies" il gato - "The Taste Of [...]

DOWNLOAD MP3: Blisses B - "Regal Goodbyes" Blisses B, a San Francisco-based quartet sent over their recently release sophomore effort Thirty Days, Sixty Years and this fresh track, which also happens to be the album opener, has been blazing through my mind at a combustible rate. Opening with a Soweto like riff - a bit of a deceiver - the track begins to take a different direction once vocalist Ben Keegan's alluringly raspy voice kicks in over rapid percussion. Energetic and punchy, "Regal Goodbyes" is just an offering of what you [...]

Every once in a while a band comes around with a sound that's impossible to define. It's rock, it's pop, it's frantic, it's not. Blisses B , a quartet out of San Fransisco, ensure that they won't be lumped into any generic category with their sophomore LP, Thirty Days, Sixty Years. The music is all over the map, and we're left guessing as to what comes next. It sort of symbolizes the theme of Knox Road, or what we at least strive for. No listening constraints - we post what we like. And it seems [...]
