For the first week of the new year, The Satellite hosted free shows in partnership with Moheak Radio, Grimy Goods, and Downtown Lobby. A great way to lure fans in on cold nights usually spent recovering from overeating and the doldrums of returning to the nine-to-five grind. I ventured out on Tuesday to check out Midwest transplants, Line & Circle , whose anthemic indie rock is drenched in nostalgia. They played an impressive set that proved that while they may be new to LA, they came prepared. Lead singer, Brian Cohen's vocals harken back to an era before whining [...]

By Seraphina Lotkhamnga There is no doubt that L.A. bands had a fruitful 2012. Not only did Buzz Bands LA taste-test more than 140 local albums [our list is coming Friday], we had more than plenty to choose from when it came to EPs. Normally, I would stick to top albums and top songs for year-end lists, but I found myself playing a surprising amount of EPs (in their entirety) during the last 12 months — which doesn't happen often. EPs [...]
This episode has a simple organizing principle: we looked back through our love-'em list and found some songs we simply hadn't yet posted. May the shame of our neglect be assuaged by our finally taking arms against a sea of troubles kind of thing. Ash - Burn Baby Burn mp3 Blonde Summer - Slow Days Fast Company mp3 A.C. Bluesy garage rockers The Dead Ships heat up the chilly Los Angeles air at The Echo.
Now until Oct 20th, hundreds of bands and music fans will take over New York City for the annual CMJ Music Marathon . While CMJ may lack the "big names" you find at Coachella and Lollapalooza , it totally makes up for it with shear volume. There are soooo many bands and artists playing, it's actually a bit nerve wrecking, trying to decide which acts to see. But what really makes CMJ rad, is the music [...]

Thousands of bicyclist and pedestrians took to normally car-clogged streets on Sunday as part of the quarterly CicLAvia event, and those who traversed Broadway to visit CicLAvia's Chinatown hub got a special treat — live music from four L.A. bands and some delicious suds in the craft beer garden. On a picture-perfect afternoon, Sanglorians, Blonde Summer, Warships and Tapioca & the Flea made plenty of fans on the plaza in Chinatown . Here's a mini-gallery from the day.

The live music at last weekend's Moon Festival was so much fun that Chinatown is doing it again this Sunday. A matinee show in conjunction with CicLAvia will bring four standout L.A. bands to an outdoor stage near Chinatown's Central Plaza (specifically, adjacent to the Grand Star Jazz Club). There will be a craft beer garden and food trucks as well. The show is free and all-ages. The lineup and set times: Noon — Sanglorians 1 p.m. — Blonde Summer 2 [...]

Earlimart's show on Friday night at the Satellite celebrating its new album "System Preferences" felt like a family reunion, even if some prominent siblings and cousins couldn't make it. Four years have passed since the Aaron Espinoza/Ariana Murray creative alliance released "Hymn and Her." In that time, they have gotten married (though not to each other), become involved in other projects (including Admiral Radley with Jason Lytle and Aaron Burtch of Grandaddy) and watched the Eastside music scene explode. Who knows how many generations of Silver Lake musicians have come and gone since Earlimart decamped to Silver [...]

CicLAvia , the quarterly community event that ushers pedestrians and bicyclists onto normally traffic-clogged thoroughfares, goes off Sunday on streets in and around downtown L.A. Mp3: Blonde Summer - Slow Days Fast Company

Blonde Summer is Chris Pope (vocals / guitar), Matt Reid (guitar), Chris Livingstone (bass) and Stephen Kurshner (drums) from Los Angeles in the USA , who produce lo-fi surf pop to match the band name. Blonde Summer There is a sound that emerges from the speakers that can't be mistaken other than arising from Los Angeles and it is of no surprise to find this is another introduction from Banter Media . . Today's song is "Slow Days Fast Company" by Blonde Summer . This single is the opening track off the Los Angeles band's sophomore EP Slow Daze . This song is a indie-popping good time with influences of summer that will last forever. Listen below and for more information check out their official website , Facebook , and Twitter pages. "Slow Days Fast Company"

Since Slow Daze came out a few weeks ago I've found myself religiously listening to all five well crafted Blonde Summer tracks in full on enjoyment of experiencing the precise moment when a band fully comes into their own. You don't have to go any further than the opening track " Slow Days Fast Company " to understand just exactly what I mean. Sure the overall sentiment of personal attachment filled with appeal should be enough to get anyone stoked for this song, what lies underneath [...]

Could you love a machine? What if you already do? Blonde Summer 's "Robots on Command" is substantially more bizarre than debut single, "Slow Days Fast Company." The latter was a slamming summer single, the former and more recent, "Robots" is a sort-of love letter to androids wrapped in a pulsing Wolf Parade -style arrangement. The existential questions are largely left out, the sort of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? investigations that lead, seemingly, inexorably to movies like The Terminator and The Matrix . What happens when they [...]
