Zach Steinman and Sam Haar make up the New York-based duo Blondes, who for the last few years have traded in lush, live takes on dance music motifs. The electronic duo of Blondes takes listeners down into late night basement parties in Brooklyn and serves a progressive mix of hypnotic house music.

The compositions found on the self-titled debut album from Blondes , a Brooklyn-based electronic duo, conjure up the usual images of weekend-in-the-club revelry. Masses of heavy, sweating bodies are caught in mid-groove by strobe light flashes, and personal space is a thing of the (more sober) past. If this picture seems vague, as though it might be happening at any venue, that's because it could be. Blondes are Zach Steinman and Sam Haar with current home base in Brooklyn. The duo met in 2003 at Oberlin College in Ohio and started experimenting. Their first influences were post-punk bands like Gang of Four and Television but their musical taste evolved through disco, kraut-rock, 80's electronic music and deep love of Manuel Göttsching's "E2-E4" album. After graduation the duo split up and regrouped in Berlin, where formed Blondes. The duo of Sam Haar and Zach Steinman don't make much in the way of distinctions between music for the body and music for the mind. The Brooklyn-based electronic musicians' 2010 Touched EP drew deeply from other heady ravers like the Orb and, going further back, pioneering German maestro Manuel Gottsching.
