The Blood Orange performance last night was pretty awesome. It made missing Lightspeed Champion kind of a distant memory. Dev Hynes was all up in the crowd, dressed in his usual bizarre get-up. He played all of the highlights from Coastal Grooves . I would have picked up some merch, but the trannie t-shirt just isn't my style running around Boystown. I did manage to pick up the "Dinner"/"Bad Girls" 73 though. Check out a 2-track performance of "I'm Sorry We Lied" and "Forget It" .
Tonight's show is a steal. Everyone loves a 2-for-1 special. The CANT debut album is pretty much flawless, in my opinion, and I've been raving about Blood Orange since the first track leaked from the new Dev Hynes project. Plus it's at one of my favorite spots in Philly, Johnny Brenda's . I wasn't sure how CANT's music would translate live, but from the footage below at the Mercury Lounge show, it sounds great. New Jawn will be in the building.
