Although they backed up Pearl Jam on the that band's 20th anniversary tour , fellow Seattle, WA grunge band Mudhoney haven't dropped an album since 20082s The Lucky Ones . However, two Mudhoney-related records from the annals of history have recently emerged, and they're both must-haves for diehard diehard Mudhoney fans (via Buy These Records ) The first effort, entitled Until... , is a collaborative effort from 1995 featuring Mudhoney and Kim Salmon of the Australian post-punk outfit The Scientists. The outfit placed the album on the shelf indefinitely, but after meeting [...]

First up, here's a cool LP that was released last month- Apparently back in 1995, Kim Salmon of the Australian post-punk outfit The Scientists teamed up with Mudhoney . They recorded a record which sat shelved for 15 years, until Mudhoney and The Scientists crossed paths again at the 2010 ATP festival. One thing led to another, and in September of this year Spanish label Bang Records released the album, titled "Until...", as a deluxe gatefold LP. The album is available domestically from Forced Exposure for $21. [...]

Bloodloss - Lost My Head For Drink Not reaching nearly as far back as most records in this column but a great one all the same. Bloodloss were formed in Australia in the early 80's and maintained an ecstatic, sax fueled brand of post-punk/sleazy blues craziness. However, following this hiatus the band hooked up with Mudhoney's Mark Arm and made him a full time [...]

Mark Arm is a wry kinda guy. It's evident in his lyrics and in interviews. He also has sort of a perma-smirk which, aside from first names, we both share. Arm has kept the mighty rock 'n' roll U-boat (U-boat? Why not?!) that is Mudhoney moving for more than two decades. He also has a day job as the warehouse manager at Sub Pop Records , the label that has put his band's records out since the beginning. Arm has also played in bands like Bloodloss and The Monkeywrench ... [...]

Without reservations, we declare ourselves to be Mark Arm fanbois . Okay, so while the Limp Richerds or Mr. Epp & the Calculations weren't too hot, Green River, Mudhoney, and the Monkeywrench were some of the coolest bands to ever come out of the Pacific Northwest. While it took us a while to warm up to him filling in for the late Rob Tyner, we enjoyed the MC5 reunion/ tribute show, and we also think it'd be cool to throw some Thrown Up songs on a mix-tape in between Drunks with Guns and the Strangulated Beatoffs . For [...]
