13 July 1976, Times Herald Record (Middletown, NY), pg. 7, cols. 1-2: The so-called "Minnesota Strip"—a stretch of 8th Avenue between 42nd and 52nd Streets—was barren of hookers, pimps and convention delegates. An area of cheap bars, massage parlors, porno book stores, peep shows and hotels of questionable repute, the "Minnesota Strip" got its name [...]

It's always pretty weird when you find out someone in your family is freaky. Well, at least as freaky as you are. It was quite a shock to think my big sister could be freaky, but what other conclusion could I come to - I found Bloodrock 2 in her bedroom. Now back in the day, bands like Bloodrock along with their label- and touring-mates Grand Funk Railroad were pretty much reviled by the highbrow music critics. Music by these bands was considered to be heavy music-lite, manufactured for a teenaged audience much like Hannah Montana [...]

Appearing on "Larry King Live" on Sept. 11, 2001, John Kerry suggested that TWA Flight 800 was brought down by a terrorist act. On Sept. 24 on "Hardball" with Chris Matthews, Kerry casually recited a number of terrorist attacks against the United States, among them TWA "Flight 800." We have been asked a number of times whether these remarks by Kerry and others were purposeful, perhaps a signal that the time was right [...]

Back in August I talked about a real creepy song in my Peter Gabriel post. I'm not going to re up it here as it may still be up. I'm just mentioning it as it is essential for any [...]
Song obsessions are those songs that we listen to on repeat. I noticed that my obsessions are often a week long. I also thought that other people might have similar obsessions. I've collected a panel of a few like-minded individuals and gotten their "song obsessions of the week." Quite often it's easy to explain why the song is good; it's much hard to explain why we're obsessed. Maybe you'll become obsessed with one of these. - Adrian ( me ): Pony Up! - The Truth About Cats and Dogs (Is [...]
