The 7th of February is an important day for hip-hop. In 1974 J Dilla was born in Detroit, United States, whilst on the same day and the same year Nujabes was born in Tokyo, Japan. Who could have known on that day what a great gift was being handed to music lovers across the globe, with hip-hop still in it's infancy, two of it's greatest children had just been born. Not only would their talents remain bound through a shared love for progressive hip-hop, but even their deaths became symbolically linked as they both passed in the month of February. [...]

I'm digging the retro feel, soft focus, and washed out colors in this visual for the title track off Blu's Jesus EP (available here ). The excellent, soulful beat was produced by Madlib, and the video by Aaronisnotcool .
Fun fact: this video was created entirely out a photo collage of pictures taken from Blu's Instagram page. Media TakeOut told me that Lana Del Rey demanded her swag back after watching this (and a full definition of what swag means in 2012). Madlib is credited with the beat. Only the IRS knows if he got paid.

Blu drops a new video for "Jesus", the title track off the EP he released in 2011. The video is directed by Aaronisnotcool, with the song's production coming from Madlib. With aaronisnotcool on direction, we now have visuals to accompany Blu 's thought provoking single, "Jesus". Produced by Madlib , this west coast connection caught us off guard in 2011. But who is complaining, anyway? Hopefully 2012 yields more quality music from Blu, as it seems like the Los Angeles MC cleaned his closet of any old material by the end of the old year.
