With the recent wave of Black Star leaks, Blu let's it be known that he had recorded over Madlib's beat long before " Fix Up " was released. Of course, Blu's recording quality is much lower, which we have come to expect, but it knocks nonetheless. "ez"is part of a project Blu recorded over Madlib beats, but has yet to see the light of day. Let's hope Madlib gives away the rest of those beats so Blu can unleash the fury. With production by the legend that is Flying Lotus, its no surprise this is one of the stand out tracks from Blu's debut album, 'NoYork'. Oh and there is also a sick video to accompany the track. Hit his Twitter up here. Download the album here.
Here's a great new video for Blu's "Doinnothin", produced by Flying Lotus and featuring famed Wu-Tang member U-God. Directed by David M. Helman, the video is definitely one of the more eye-catching pieces I've seen all year, and the colorful animation definitely sets it apart from other videos, while still maintaining a strong allegiance to Blu's personal style. "Doinnothin" is off Blu's latest album No York! , which you can stream and download via the link below. Download: Blu - No York! [DefSounds]
I've always been on the fence about pairing Flylo's layered snares, shuffling percussion and heady madness with any MC, but I do love to be wrong. Blu's monotone drive fits well up against the controlled chaos of both the track and kinetic clip. Video is by RUFFMERCY , who did the animation for another equally interesting video to accompany the Blu/Flylo collab "BNG". Check that out here .
A music video for a track from California MC Blu's forthcoming album, NoYork! . The LP leaked toward the end of the summer, but it's still yet to receive an official release. I guess that doesn't matter since you can find it just about anywhere on the net , though.

Download audio file (Wounds-Simili-Life-Unreleased -Version.mp3) I once told Sulaiman that I wanted to find the art that was on the walls in that scene of Belly (by Thierry le Goues) and suggested he use it for (RDV7) . I'm big on art and the walls of my apartment have always been lined with it. He delivered immaculately. The talent on the Blind I staff never ceases to amaze me. Our imaginations [...]

*Does not actually feature U-God. Except maybe on the chorus, but to me that's a egregious waste of a Golden Arms cameo. Instead we get two verses from Blu, who's trying out his Mikey Rocks spoken word flow on this drooping beat from Flying Lotus. Still not sure what approach Blu is coming with in the post-Odd Future era, but you could take this video, replace the audio with a Tyler the Creator song and no one would know the difference.
You guys hear this new Blu joint? NoYork! is Producer/Rapper/MC Blu's 3rd release. The sound comes at a perfect time for me when I'm neck deep in the LA beat scene. Flying Lotus and Sam I Yam are producin' some beats as well as Exile's usual touches. Many street hop folks won't get it; they'll listen out of respect. Everything about this album is different; Different stylo, different producers, interesting release style (bootlegged online via CD hand outs at Rock the Bells from Blu himself), etc. etc. The video above is the "single" of the album and David Helman and [...]

If this year's Rock The Bells festival was any indication of who is sitting at the helm of indie rap, Blu would be on top deck steering the ship. The LA-based rapper started taking things in a different direction by gathering a creative (and impressive) bevy of West Coast indie rappers including Pac Div , TiRon and Ayomari , U-N-I and J*DaVeY to form what he calls the NewestNEWest . Together the group produced [...]

Blu's got your daily dosage of LSD-tinged trippiness with the visuals for "DoinNothin'." The Flying Lotus-produced track receives animated treatment from director David M. Helman, as lights and graphics flash [...]
