First thing's first: Full disclosure. I used to help with Blue Rabbit 's publicity. BUT, I assure you that I meet the criteria for a bona fide fan, i.e. going out to as many of their live shows as I possibly can, discussing them at length with other Rabbit Heads, and listening to their album obsessively. Back in 2005, Heather Anderson, BR's founder and general mastermind (composer, songwriter and singer/guitarist) formed the band as an experimental drums and vocal duo. Since then, the group has swelled to its current eight member count, [...]

OK, this may be an odd question: How would a mash-up between Rasputina and Tilly And The Wall sound? It's hard to think about as one would believe the result would be a bit awkward. But it's not; just listen to "Sleep" by Blue Rabbit . There's the dark cello, a Rasputina signature. And pop-riddled vocals are sung by multiple individuals in a manner quite like Tilly And The Wall. And here's the kicker: it works, and it works well. Blue Rabbit is a San Francisco-base collective currently [...]

The New Up - "Better Off" The Blue Up Ball marks the only summer show from Blue Turtle Seduction here in San Francisco and will also celebrate the local release of Better [...]

The Deli SF says, "never mind the taxman-let's live it up while there's living to be had!" with a whimsical "Tax Day Party" at The Hemlock tonight: Blue Rabbit , Sacramento's Chelsea Wolfe and Tippy Canoe (Oakland). Blue Rabbit embarks on dark, serene musical journeys thanks to cello, harp and a thick layer of female voices. They reside and play often here in the city, and the feeling is that you'll leave this song on repeat once you've heard it: [...]
Thursday, March 12, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: Actually, there's a few things to mention. The first is that I'm now on Twitter. Sign up to follow me immediately, as there will be a nice bit of important info pertaining to it next week. Secondly, Austin Sound has put up their yearly compilation. It, like the day party they're having, is beyond awesome. And lastly, we won second place at trivia last night (our team name was Britney's Beef Curtains: Volume 9). Deep breath. Now check [...]

This week's podcast is our latest monthly mix episode, featuring new music, recent music and otherwise excellent music from seven Bay Area bands and one from the Central Valley. You can pick it up at their MySpace page , and can see the San Francisco folk-rockers on October 19th at the Fiesta [...]
