Mighty Mike - Remember my dollar [ mp3 ] Aloe Blacc - I need a dollar The Blue Boy - Remember me (Sure is Pure mix) this baby is an instant classic oh yeah

From Scottish DJ Lex Blackmore (aka BlueBoy), we have his 1997 dance hit, "Remember Me". The track is built around two samples from " Woman of the Ghetto ", a 1969 soul song by Marlena Shaw. From wik i: "The original song ["Woman of the Ghetto] is polemic to legislators delivered by a woman from a black American ghetto. Near the end is the line: "Remember me? I'm the one who had your babies", in reference to black maids raising white children for little pay in America. This sample is repeated throughout "Remember Me", as is [...]

SPOOK HILL :: SEPTEMBER MIXTAPE :: BOY ATTRACTIONS Walker and I have had this one in the works for a while. We decided a month or so ago (after our last mixtape) that we wanted to try something a bit different from our usual mixes. We settled on the idea of compiling our favorite songs recorded before 2000 that were relatively unknown or obscure (or at least if the artist was relatively known, one of their hidden gems). That was really the only restriction. Interestingly enough, there was a clear divide in the years [...]

The second part of the cover versions special is 60% Scottish. Mitchell Museum, WWPJ and Sons and Daughters make up the Scottish contributions, doing covers of M.I.A, Bon Iver and Adamski respectively. There is another Scottish element amongst the tracks in the form of Blue Boy, the track "Remember Me" was written by ex Shamen member Lex Blackmore and is covered here by Aussie rock troops Tame Impala. the final track is courtesy of Passion Pit, who do an outstanding version of The Cranberries hit "Dreams". Blue Boy - Remember Me You ever have one of those "Eureka!" type moments. Well I had one the other night when I heard this. I realized that the Tame Impala version I posted a long time ago was actually of a cover of this 1997 classic. Had no idea!

The greatest TV show of all time was "Dragnet." Especially in its later incarnation, in the late 1960s, when straight-laced cops Joe Friday and Bill Gannon encountered all sorts of hippies and freaks on the mean streets of L.A. Jack Webb, the star, producer and head writer, was a great actor and his Sgt. Friday character was great - there has never been anyone like him on TV. Everybody's favorite episode is "The LSD Story," from 1967, which features a character called the "Blue Boy." [...]

I first owned this Blue Boy song on Hit Machine 17 from 1997. I could not be loving the Tame Impala cover more. When your album comes out Tame Impala, I may just die. Image by ARTEMIS for Hobogestapo @ Controversy II with DJ Kaos & Knightlife. Just adding to my post last week featuring DJ Agent 86 ; he's been kind enough to share his amazing remix of the classic Pink Floyd anthem 'Another Brick In The Wall' . You'll be happy to know that he doesn't steer away from the original much at all, only to amplify the bassline, keeping in tact David Gilmour's famous guitar solo. (This is light years away from that murderous Eric Prydz remix of the same tune [...]
