It's off their upcoming fourth full-length album Valley Tangents that will be released on June 19 via Drag City. They'll be performing next in Philly on June 22 at PhilaMOCA with local experimentalists Birds of Maya and Slow Tongued Beauty .

I was definitely psyched to see Philadelphia native Kurt Vile perform with his band the Violators at Philly's fairly new music venue, Union Transfer. I complain a lot about my distaste for many electronic/noise bands on this site. It's true- I'm bad at liking that kind of music and I feel like a critical failure. But Black Dice and Blues Control? These are two absolutely fantastic electronic noise outfits. Black Dice use all kinds of warped noises and twisted bits of unrecognizable sounds to make songs that crunch in your ears. To me, Black Dice are trying new things and creating music that's innovative, challenging, but also inspires common emotions in listeners. On Sunday I made the long trek from Brooklyn up to Morningside Heights. I knew it was a bad omen when I realized that the 2/3 wasn't running between Manhattan and Brooklyn only once I got to the station. After taking the 4 to the 1 to the 2, I finally made it up to Columbia. I was initially excited for this event, but the rain moved it into the Barnard Gymnasium, which definitely wasn't the most inspiring place to see bands.
