10 Bands We Want To See Make A Comeback

10 Bands We Want To See Make A Comeback If you haven't drunkenly sung along to The Cranberries' "Linger," there's room for improvement in your life. With that being said, a Cranberries' comeback—although smirk-worthy—is probably a few years too late. As excited as some people claim to be, are you really looking forward to this? You saw the video right? It's not that we wouldn't love to see the Cranberries make an epic comeback. It's just highly unlikely. It's much more likely that you'll continue to love singing along to "Linger" when it randomly comes on the radio and that will be the extent of your relationship [...]

Consequence of Sound Turns Four

Consequence of Sound Turns Four Four isn't five, but it's also not three. One is the loneliest number, yet two is for hipsters. Seven is considered lucky, while six is the result of dividing 666 by 111. We're okay with four - at least for now. This week - check it, September 15th, 2011 - marked the fourth anniversary of Consequence of Sound . Back in 2007, on one lazy Saturday afternoon in New York, Alex Young decided to start a blog. What you see here today is the ongoing result. But it's not the result that's mind boggling. It's the journey. [...]

Announcing: Orlando Calling 2011 – Raconteurs / Warren / Seger / Avetts

We've been watching the proliferation of music festivals in Florida over the last few years with great interest and this morning a new player has emerged in the form of the inaugural Orlando Calling festival. Produced by Festival Republic, who organize the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K., Orlando Calling features a genre-defying lineup that should appeal to a wide range of music fans. The event will take place at the large Citrus Bowl football stadium in Orlando on November 12 -13. Saturday (November 12) and Sunday's [...]

The Killers, The Raconteurs, Pixies head Orlando Calling 2011

The mysterious is over; the lineup for the inaugural Orlando Calling music festival is here. Set to take place November 12-13 at Orlando's Citrus Bowl Park, the festival will feature an eclectic mix of modern rock and classic rock, hip hop, R&B, and country, with acts like The Killers, The Raconteurs, Pixies, The Roots, Kid Rock, and Bob Seeger & the Silver Bullet Band topping the bill, according to Billboard.com . Billboard reports that the festival's first day will lean toward a more modern sound. Joining The Killers, The Raconteurs, Pixies, and The Roots will [...]

Blues Traveler – Run-Around

Blues Traveler – Run-Around Blues Traveler - Run-Around This track makes me want to dance, and takes me back to the 902s haha. It's safe to call this band a one hit wonder right? Since I really haven't heard anything else by them... but not much of a story to this one, other then it came up on Pandora and I remembered how much fun it is! I was driving home late from work, and it just brought a surge of energy which was probably dangerous when driving because I was singing at the top of my lungs. And I [...]

From Good Homes' Wellmont Residency

From Good Homes' Wellmont Residency Natives of Sparta, New Jersey, and veteran rockers, From Good Homes, will be playing two shows this weekend as a part of their residency at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey. After achieving success throughout the 1980's and early 1990's the band split up due to artistic differences. The band was able to achieve mainstream success and several record deals with RCA due to extensive touring and a unique and soulful sound. From Good Homes also helped a few bands get their start - Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band and Hootie and The Blowfish were all openers for From [...]

A Memory of Music: November 2010

A Memory of Music: November 2010 Kicking off this month's edition of our look at the month in photographs are a couple shots from Halloween. The first one is an amusing photo of Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident , face to face with his pint size replica at the Hampton Coliseum on Hulaween. Apparently an enterprising photographer snuck the little guy up on stage, giving everyone a good laugh. You can check out tapes from the evening on the archive and livecheese.com [Bill Nershi w/ Barefoot Billy, [...]

Picture Show: Blues Traveler @ BK Bowl

Picture Show: Blues Traveler @ BK Bowl New Jersey-bred jam legends Blues Traveler came to Brooklyn Bowl this past weekend for a pair of sold out performances at our favorite venue in New York City. The shows were a homecoming of sorts for the band, which cut its proverbial teeth at joints like the Wetlands Preserve and Nightingale's during the late '80s and early '90s before finding commercial success. [All photos by Rob Chapman] The quintet was joined by quite a few guests over the course of the weekend [...]

Cover Wars: Willin' Edition

Steve earl - willin'
We're still abuzz from Phish's fantastic interpretation of Little Feat's seminal 1978 live album Waiting For Columbus that we wanted to continue to pay tribute to the highly influential, yet somehow criminally underrated band. This week we're placing that act's classic trucker anthem, Willin', into the squared circle - a song that has been rumored as the reason that Lowell George was asked to leave Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention, and thus the impetus for the formation of Little Feat. The track originally appeared [...]

Austin City Limits Covers Roundup

ACL Music festival was full of covers that were a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.

CoS vs. Grant Park III: Round Two at Lollapalooza '10

CoS vs. Grant Park III: Round Two at Lollapalooza '10 Lollapalooza 2010. You wake up. Every muscle in your body hurts, even the ones you didn't know existed. The excitement of day one has all been replaced with a feeling of sheer exhaustion. "Ugh... two more days of this," you think as you contemplate the best method of getting your legs working again. Your mind then quickly focuses on which bands can be skipped in favor of an extra hour of sleep. But then you get up. A cool shower washes off all the stale sweat you chose not to get off the night before. [...]

GUEST POST: WARREN HAYNES presents: THE BENEFIT CONCERT VOL. 3

GUEST POST: WARREN HAYNES presents: THE BENEFIT CONCERT VOL. 3 Hey guys. Sorry for no post yesterday. I was planning on doing a Top 5 but an unexpected road trip kept me on the long black ribbon all day yesterday. Our guy, Adam Fenwick , checks back in on this here Thursday morning with a review of a cd that came out this month but was recorded back in 2001. Sound confusing? I'll let Adam take it from here: It's always a special day when a concert that you've attended gets released on CD. I [...]

Late Nights and Superjams: CoS at Wakarusa '10

Late Nights and Superjams: CoS at Wakarusa '10 "Before we even start, I just have to say, you're all fucking legends." – John Butler 2010 proved to be a landmark year for Wakarusa . It was the culmination of years of enduring the politics of festival organizing and coming out on top with a premier mid-level event. After settling in to their new home last year, Waka was able to step up their game and build the festival they'd been dreaming of for this past weekend. Even though this was its seventh year, it felt like the first, but with the same intimacy and charm [...]

Last Week's Sauce: May 17th – 23rd

Last Week's Sauce: May 17th – 23rd It's mostly a Rock & Roll recap here at Last Week's Sauce. Notably, three of the bands (Blues Traveler, Pearl Jam, and Ween) all had their major studio debuts within one year of each other in 1990-1991. We round things out from the likes of jamband supergroup 30db covering Wilco and Keller Williams collaborating with his friends The Keels. [Thanks to DATBRAD for this week's photo] And we continue to take all the selected tracks, normalize them, create some simple fades and put it into one [...]
