Yes You - 'Half of It' ( mp3 ) Yes You - Half of It Anthemic synth stylings hailing from Brisbane. Featuring James O'Brien from The Boat People, Half of It is warm and fuzzy, ready to roll up in your bits like a freight train of summer goodness. Think MGMT versus Passion Pit, but a tad more sun-touched and addictive. Simple, chilled, fantastic. Yes You FB

The S-25 Mix is short for The Sunday 25 Songs Mix, where we put together a mix of 25 tracks (sometimes more) we love from all genres and time periods of music. Over the past two weeks, we put out the Songs About Cars mixes, many of which were recommended by our readers. But this [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

The Boat People are an Australian band, they have been around for a few years now and making great music the whole time. I think they fall under the genre of indie pop. The Boat People- Damn Defensive Filed under: Alternative , Music Tagged: The Boat People
We had a great time last Tuesday at our Ides of March Day Music/Tech Party in Austin. Hosted at legendary rock venue Emo's, the showcase was a huge success. Thanks to everyone that came out, tech presenters, and most importantly all of the great musicians that played on our behalf. As promised, here are photos [...]

The penultimate digest and we're in determined mood today. Mp32s fell like an hour long compilation of Ronaldo dives. From the slaughter these 5 magic Messi moments emerged triumphantly. ~~~ Wild instrumental forays with a suspiciously melodic heart. Marco Benevento - It Came From You More Info: Marco Benevento ~~~ So long you may be panned out by the finish, delightful nugget all the same. No Gold - Rainforts [...]
Here it is-the last Sunday Sampler of 2010! Enjoy the MP3s! [tweetmeme] Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Impossible Hair "You Can Own" from Toast a Dozen (on [...]
The Boat People have been around for a while now, and to be honest, I actually hadn't heard much of their stuff until Triple J offered a free download of their track Damn Defensive a few months ago. Damn Defensive is a super catchy indie guitar pop song and you can hear it if you [...]

For your Friday woes Australian band The Boat People offer up "Antidote." from their album Dear Darkly . http://www.myspace.com/theboat people http://www.theboaties.com/

The Boat People from Melbourne are one of those hard working local bands that flit around the edges, promising to step through one minute, disappearing the next. I remember seeing them many moons ago at the Rob Roy (RIP) and thinking 'oooh that's a politically charged name I hope I don't get radicalised tonight'. Their third album is called Dear Darkly, and Dance To My Pain is the lead single: Sydney crew No Device, seemingly the go to guys for taking incongruous indy jams (Lisa Mitchell, Washington, Whitley have all got [...]
Get ready to…not fist-pump. Fist-bob, maybe.

Haha ! 'Culé va ! [...]

What can I say about Australian pop? Man, it sucks me in every single time, but I won't complain. My newest find is The Boat People who just released their album Dear Darkly overseas. It's got this atmospheric quality to the staple indie pop sound, and on the single "Soporific" the chorus is completely juxtaposed to the regular versus. It's a splendid style of songwriting. Give this a try. Download: The Boat People - Soporific [MP3]

The third album for Brisbane-born indie-pop quartet, The Boat People or more commonly, The Boaties. The follow-up to 2008's Chandeliers , Chandeliers was three years in the making, Dear Darkly , was recorded over several sessions with producer John Castle (Washington, The Bamboos, Dan Parsons) in his studio in Melbourne, where half the band now reside. It features singles 'Echo Stick Guitars', 'Soporific' and 'Under The Ocean' Track Listing Under The Ocean Soporific ( video ) [...]

Finally, the three of us (Jamie, Jon and I) were reunited. Last week Jon admirably took over the show with KR friends Zach and Steven, but this week we were up to our old, mischievous ways, arguing over prog-rock vs. bedroom projects, which included Jamie making the bold (read: ridiculous - to Jon and me) statement that Shearwater's music isn't genuine. Oh boy. Have a listen below, you don't wanna miss this one! Knox Road Radio 2.28.10 [MP3] (Available until next Sunday's show.) *As a reminder, Knox Road Radio broadcasts live every Sunday [...]
