Back on Dec. 1st the Rex Foundation threw a benefit at The Fillmore in San Francisco to honor the memory of former Grateful Dead manager Jon McIntire. Members of ALO kicked off the memorable night of music, followed by a Bob Weir solo acoustic set and a performance by The Mickey Hart Band with Widespread Panic’s Dave Schools. Today, a compilation of tracks culled from that night dubbed "A Buck Dancer's Choice" is available for download at nugs.net and iTunes , and on CD at nugs.net . Here's the [...]

Sad news from The Capitol Theatre last night as Furthur guitarist Bob Weir was helped off the stage in the middle of the band's second set during the final show of the band's nine-show residency. Weir seemed to be off all night, both vocally and on guitar, which culminated in a scary scene during Unbroken Chain. The 65-year-old Weir fell on stage and was helped into a folding chair that was set up for him by two of Furthur's crew. He strummed aimlessly throughout the rest of Unbroken Chain, after which the band left the stage [...]

We've been big fans of Bob Weir's fantastic Weir Here since it debuted last year. The semi-regular web variety show, which is broadcast live from Weir's TRI Studios, has featured members of the Grateful Dead and its extended family swapping stories and performing a mix of tunes. During a recent episode, the former Bobby & The Midnights lead singer revealed that he will take the show on the road this fall, where he will be joined by Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), Jonathan Wilson, Jay Lane (Primus), Jason Crosby and Jeff Chimenti (Furthur, RatDog), as [...]

Former Furthur member, and current Primus drummer, Jay Lane has a residency of his own nearby at the Copacabana restaurant in Port Chester during the run for a series of aftershows dubbed " CapToTheCopa ." TRI Studios' Weir Here webcasts have given us many magical moments both musical and otherwise. Last week's episode was no exception as it featured Bobby teaming up with the impressive one-time-only band of guitarist Steve Kimock, bassist Dave Schools of Widespread Panic, vocalist Leslie Mendelson, Primus drummer Jay Lane and multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby. TRI has graciously shared video of the ensemble's version of Cassidy... Weir Here returns tomorrow night with Dave Schools as special guest host.

Steve Kimock was slated to play the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco last night with his current band which includes Andy Hess on bass, keyboardist Bernie Worrell and drummer Wally Ingram. Knowing Kimock's close relationship with Furthur / Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir it wasn't a stretch to think the jorts-loving Weir would show, especially since Steve took part in Bobby's Weir Here talk show at TRI Studios on Wednesday night. Not only did Bobby show up, but he brought his new comrades Leslie Mendelson and Jason Crosby with him. As if that wasn't enough, Worrell's former [...]
It will be hard to top last Wednesday's episode of TRI Studio's talk show Weir Here in which Furthur / Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh, roadie Steve Parish and archivist David Lemieux told Pigpen stories and a one-off ensemble led by Weir and Lesh performed. However the show must go on and the lineup for the next episode of Weir Here has just been revealed. Phil Lesh made his first appearance on Bob Weir's Weir Here talk show one to remember last night at TRI Studios. Following Sugar Magnolia, the Grateful Dead / Furthur band mates offered impressive duo versions of Cosmic [...]

Yesterday's big story was Bob Weir's fight with talkers at his Sweetwater Music Hall venue . Well Weir has something he wants to share with concert attendees. Take it away Bobby... [Hat Tip - Barry Brown]

Last night was the second of two The RatDog Quartet performances at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, Calif. Before this new version of RatDog took the stage, which features Bob Weir, Jonathan Wilson, Robin Sylvester, Jay Lane and sometimes guest Jason Crosby, the evening started off with an acoustic performance by Jonathan Wilson followed by a Bob Weir acoustic set. Weir battled with a bunch of talkers throughout his set telling them "Hey, I'm not interrupting you am I?" He finally gave up during a cover of Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall. Bobby left [...]

This weekend San Francisco Giants third base coach Tim Flannery has been playing a series of four concerts in the Bay Area with his band Lunatic Fringe to help raise funds for Bryan Stow. Stow was the victim of a brutal attack at Dodgers Stadium at a game between his beloved Giants and the Dodgers in 2011 just because he didn't root for the home team. Last night Flannery's four-night swing landed him at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, Calif. where Grateful Dead / Furthur guitarist (and one of the venue's owners) Bob Weir joined [...]
