Went to Raw Sugar Cafe on June 25, 2010. I finally got to see a Bob Wiseman set. Also playing were Glenn Nuotio and Catriona Sturton . It was a nice evening of great acoustic music. Bob Wiseman's set was very elaborate with his short videos. There was some short films with his friends one being Scott Thompson from Kids In The Hall and that guy you see in the Rogers TV commercial where [...]

(photo: front.bc.ca) This year marks the 20th anniversary of Bob Wiseman 's In Her Dream , the Blue Rodeo keyboardist's solo album. 1989 was a pretty remarkable year of music for me personally, but none of the great albums that came out that year moved me the way Wiseman did. I was familiar enough with Blue Rodeo at the time; their second album, Diamond Mine had a cool, jazz-psychedelic sound to it that was very atmospheric and I really liked it a lot. That's probably why it came [...]

CMJ Magazine's online version has got it right by bringing us the premiere of Bob Wiseman 's latest self-directed video (watch it here ), but they got a few other things wrong. Wiseman was not the singer of the band Blue Rodeo (although he was my favourite part of the band, he handled keyboards) or The Hidden Cameras. It's OK, or easy, to mess up who he played with, or whose record he played on, he's helped out a lot of artists such as Ron Sexsmith, Final Fantasy, and [...]
When Feist toured Europe recently she brought along the enigmatic Bob Wiseman as her opening act. On the final night of Wiseman's supporting gig in Munich, Feist came out before her set to lend a hand and sat behind the drumkit to play (and sing) along with "You Don't Love Me" off of Wiseman's More Work Songs From The Planet Of The Apes. Bob is still touring Europe, visit his myspace for details and dates. Here's proof that Bob writes and plays a good song and that Ms Feist knows what to hit on a drumkit. Check [...]
With Bob Wiseman opening for Feist on her European dates, I thought I'd throw up this opening from my post on him from back in November 2005, with link to the whole post... along with a couple of mp3s, of course. Bob Wiseman almost seems 'too' funny for his own good or at least his music's good (but not too Canadian, how could that possibly happen?). I mean that he would likely receive more attention and admiration from that quadrant of the music media with hyperbolic tendencies if his eccentric, formidable talent were framed at all times [...]
Watching Rhino reissue all the landmark albums of my youth (the JAMC, Depeche Mode, the Cure etc. etc. etc.) makes me feel old, and I'm sure this post will only show my age more, but I'm a proud music fan, and glad that I've been able to experience a wide array of musical styles and fads over the years. Whenever I think back to my musical youth (you may be as old as me if you caught that
