Bobby Womack 's new album, The Bravest Man In The Universe , is going to be very special indeed. The release of Bobby Womack 's The Bravest Man in the Universe is fast approaching, so XL Recordings is back at it to release some new material. We have already heard the riveting " Please Forgive My Heart ", but here is a funk version to spice things up. While the track isn't quite as funky as I was hoping, it does shed some new light on the piece. The Bravest Man in the Universe is due out June 12 via XL Recordings.

Mostly, in recent memory, he's come back into the public consciousness due to guest spots on Gorillaz's Plastic Beach and The Fall Perhaps this collaboration helped inspire Womack to return to making music of his own, because this year he's making a comeback with The Bravest Man in the Universe, coming out in June. Following news that gospel legend Bobby Womack  is suffering from colon cancer, the lyrics to 'The Bravest Man In The Universe' take on new poignance. Womack's forthcoming new album, due out on XL in June, was co-produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell - and Russell's fingerprints are all over this, with a behind-sheet-glass aesthetic that borrows heavily from Gil Scott-Heron's I'm New Here .

This is just an amazing track.  Little needs to be said about a musical veteran like Bobby Womack but his upcoming album is a bit out of the ordinary.  From the first taste of the record "Please Forgive My Heart" it's not hard to tell that Damon Albarn is involved as co-producer alongside Richard Russell [...]
