Jeremy Glenn - Partytime (Marcos Cabral remix) By Stef Siepel The Weekly Froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer’s fancy. ‘Partytime’ by Jeremy Glenn (Marcos Cabral remix) We know Jeremy Glenn has done some good work recently, and we know that Marcos Cabral [...]

Brisol's bass wonder boy and label chameleon Julio Bashmore is continuing to broaden the sounds of house music with his remix of Bobby Womack's " Love Is Gonna Lift You Up ." The original track was just released last month on Womack's newest album The Bravest Man in The Universe and came readied with house elements. But Bashmore's remix gives it a slightly deeper, darker vibe and translates perfectly from soul to house with Womack's iconic, resounding voice overlaying the added [...]

Soul legend Bobby Womack recently released his new LP The Bravest Man In The Universe , and today we have a remix of the choice track 'Love Is Gonna Lift You Up'. The remix is done by Bristol producer Julio Bashmore and it serves the original well. The Bravest Man In The Universe is out now.
Bobby Womack recently teamed up with Richard Russell and co at XL for the rather ace return to form that is "The Bravest Man In The Universe" and the label have drafted in Bristol's finest Julio Bashmore to remix one of the album tracks. While the original is a light disco-tinged number, Bashmore closes the curtains and switches off the lights to deliver an altogether darker affair. With hints of his "Battle For Middle You" classic in there, it's a bit of a belter. No release info as yet.

This was always going to end well. Man of the moment Julio Bashmore has applied his magic touch to "Love Is Going To Lift You Up" from Bobby Womack 's album The Bravest Man In The Universe (recently released on XL Recordings), and the result is pure late-night vibes. Having worked with soulful vocalists on songs like " Father Father," Bashmore has experience in crafting emotionally charged house anthems, and this remix shows off all his best qualities, with its slow build, elastic bassline and blissful beauty. JB's summer weapons keep coming as he delivers a dark clickety and mood drenched remix of Bobby Womack's Love Is Gonna Lift You Up. The original is a much happier affair but Bashmore sweeps aside most of the original vibes and heads straight for a dark house monster.

Releasing his first proper studio album in almost two decades, soul and R&B legend, Bobby Womack, is back in the limelight with a stunningly modern album, its quality matching, and in some cases, surpassing his best work. The Bravest Man in the Universe is a collaboration between the XL label’s Richard Russell and the Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn (whose 2010 album, Plastic Beach , Womack made a guest appearance on.) The 68 year old singer’s world weary voice and unique personality carry the record, which is not to say that there isn’t some electrifying music backing him, no [...]

Photo source: Beat Connection There are too many music festivals in New York City! With at least one festival hitting our city each week this past month, I personally take news about a new music festival with a very small grain of salt. There are, however, some festivals doing it right. Take Governors Ball for example. The two-day festival which took place on Randall's Island two weeks ago, was a diverse showcase of bands, both popular and rising, paired with great food, alcohol, and gorgeous weather. [...]

We're still recovering from the month that was, some pretty big albums were birthed over the past thirty days, some familiar faces returned, we were introduced to one of the best debuts from a band in the past couple of years, Orange became the hottest color, and a legend graced the charts once again with his 27th studio released project. June will go down as one of our most frantic months ever, in case you missed out here our some highlights to keep you up to date. Big K.R.I.T. lived up to his anticipated debut release [...]
