Bodhi Jones spent his early years with his mother and sister on Salt Spring Island. He affectionately refers to it as a "1980′s hippie paradise" and says spending his childhood there was an "amazingly magical experience." Shortly after his tenth birthday, he and his mom moved from Salt Spring to Vancouver in search of greater [...]

It has been a long time since I've seen amazingly angst-filled Art, and David Bodhi Boylan comes at the world from all directions. Taking his inner turmoil public has resulted in confronting performances, honest paintings and quirky sculptures. His aesthetic hasa natural grittiness to it which is most evident in his home furnishing series, particularly the chair made from garbage. I bet it's actually really comfortable. The themes in Boylan's work are dark [...]
Feels Like Home Ep #2 - Bodhi "Warm Side" by Into The Woods

Seems like it was only yesterday that I was cobbling together the TDoL best of 2008 . Yes, time flies when you're old and surly. And, yes, I know year-end lists are everywhere, cliché, overdone and a dime a dozen-but I do love them so. These lists are difficult to make, too. I mean who has time to really absorb a full record when you're being bombarded with hundreds of albums and mp3s? It was chore to make a list that exorcised both my discerning (wax-clogged) ear and my (beer-besotted) gut-the "I can see what this artist [...]

Neo-psychedelic garage rock has been done to death. It's sorta lost its oomph, lost its lovin' feeling ... lost in translation, lost in space. Portland's Bodhi -which I'm hoping is named after Patrick Swayze's character in Point Break -is an exception. Sure, all the elements are there: Swirling synth, reverbed guitars and unhinged vocals, but the four-piece pieces it together into their own damaged rock 'n' roll narrative. Bodhi quietly released its debut full-length Secondhand Runner , an album recorded here and there in Portland- here being Revolver Studios in [...]

With the untimely passing of resident badass, Patrick Swayze, Our Kitchen Sink put together a list of the best quotes from Swayze's classic portrayal of the bank robbing surfer, Bodhi, from Point Break. 100% pure adrenaline! Goddamn! You are one radical son of a bitch! It's basic dog psychology, if you scare them and get them peeing down their leg, they submit. But if you project weakness, that promotes violence, and that's how people get hurt. They only live to get radical. [...]

Talk about almost slipping one past us. Last year I was pretty enamored with the garage-rock stylings of local trio Bodhi, a band so unafraid of having fun that it named itself after Patrick Swayze's iconic surfer in Point Break . When I interviewed singer Brian Carr and drummer Erin Ansley in July 2008, they professed to being nearly finished with Bodhi's first full-length. Most of a year passed by, with infrequent shows and lineup changes, but look here—Bodhi's debut album is finally out, and this song totally rips. "Bystander" is the second song on [...]
