Think of The Village , only a lot more disturbing and less lame, and you can make an idea of Bodies of Water 's new awesome video for " Under the Pines ," off their last year summer release, " A Certain Feeling ." The video's plot is quite interesting, although ringing of clichés, but that's what makes it so fun, because it's so intentionally predictable, I guess. A man going hunting in the woods, shoots a dog. While gutting it, he finds a really big ass diamond and takes it home for himself. What follows [...]

Song Ume ~ " The Conductor " myspace plays: 3,741 mp3 download Ume is a trio out of Austin. Lauren Larson totally caught off guard on this one. I started listening to "The Conductor" before reading about Ume, so I wasn't expecting a girl to start singing over heavy riffs. I thought it was cool, but then to find out that Lauren was also the one playing the guitar... Awesome! [...]
Great new video from Bodies of Water. It's a small bit lengthy (small and long don't really go together, apart from Dachshunds of course!), but definitely worth the watch. David and Meredith Metcalf created and wrote the video, which was directed by Andy Bruntel.
Enjoy 'Under The Pines' below. Download a Bodies Of Water track at bottom. MP3: Bodies Of Water - Water Here

I know I know, everyone is doing it. I swore I wouldn't do it this year. But I couldn't resist. I know I'm also a bit late because everyone cranks these things out in November. But anyway here it is, better late than never, my top 21 albums of 2008 is no particular order (besides alphabetical): Artist: Beach House Album: Devotion Song: Gila I still am on my campaign to convince everyone I know that mellow does not equal [...]
For such a young band, Bodies Of Water already have a lot of really great songs you can hope for them to play if you're lucky enough to see them live. When they performed for The Laundromatinee , Under The Pines wasn't one we were lucky enough to witness, but they did perform it at their show later that evening . They've released a new video for the song. It was written and created by band primaries/husband/wife/lead singers David [...]

When we posted about L.A. prog-gospel crew Bodies Of Water's " Under The Pines ," we mentioned that at least in name, the song reminded some of us (me) of old-time Siltbreezers the Strapping Fieldhands' In The Pineys EP. The video, written and created by Bodies David & Meredith Metcalf and directed by Andy Bruntel, finds David looking like a fieldhand, albeit not so strapping. Story wise, it's good to see Meredith putting her past acting skills to use. But dog (and sweetmeat) lovers might want to avert their eyes.
I always know that just about anything released on Secretly Canadian Records will be quality and A Certain Feeling , from Bodies Of Water, is no exception. The big-top indie-rock is moody and interesting like a cross between The Talking Heads, Cold War Kids, and (maybe) Bjork. It's good but (really) I don't even know how to describe this. And so we've reached the end of this year's journey through my top albums. Before we get into the top eight, I'll try to sum up which albums released in the last few months of 2008. September brought offerings from Jenny Lewis, Mercury Rev, People in Planes, Butch Walker, No and the Maybes, Glasvegas, Santogold, Jon Ryman, Metallica, Chairlift, Kings of Leon, and a sophomore record from former Suede frontman, Brett Anderson. There were also a few that have already made this countdown, including TV on the Radio, Ladyhawke, and Okkervil River. October's albums was jam-packed with records [...]

Written by Fense The year is over. We have a new president about to take office, a failing economy, and out of control weather. The good news is that last year saw some amazing albums hit and, thanks to the rampant oppression of hard times, next year should prove just as fruitful music-wise. After all, difficult times, depression, etc. can often breed above average achievements in the arts... right? So here it is, my top 33 and 1/3 albums of the year and the last post of 2008. The 33 [...]

The Matches : I'm A Michael Bolton Fan . How could something so bad be so good? The answer is simple ma chéries. If it weren't so bad, it just wouldn't be as good! It's a classic paradox and also what makes Michael Bolton a prime make-it-hurt-so-good candidate. We just had to be around to catch The Matches admit it on tape. Oh, and bad music is only the beginning folks. "How Many Licks" is going to take a weekly [...]

Over the past year I've listened to a countless number of songs, I would estimate that in 2008 alone, I've reviewed over 300 songs on this blog, all of which touched me in some way. So to cap off a year of wonderful music, I'm sharing the 50 songs that grabbed my attention and kept me listening all year long. These are my favorite songs of the year (presented in two parts). In making this list, I selected the songs that I treasured the most, ones that I'll be replaying for years down the line. Like the other two years I've [...]

After their signing to Secretly Canadian , we patiently waited for Bodies Of Water to make the long trip to Indiana from their native Southern California. We knew it was going to happen, but when it did, we were even happier to help be the driving force behind their show here. It was, as we knew it would be, loads of fun. Both they and Port O'Brien wowed the locals. Earlier in the day, BoW stopped by our VIBES II performance space and performed some [...]

Bodies Of Water are making a Christmas MP3 available for free download. You can get your copy of the band's version of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" here . Bodies Of Water's website Bodies Of Water's Myspace
The Los Angeles based Bodies Of Water signed with Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian last year. Since that time, we have waited patiently for the band to travel to our homelands. Sure, we've seen them at SXSW, but there is something much sweeter in having a band you love on your home turf and in an intimate setting.

"Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song, high above the tree..." It's the holiday season and EAR FARM has got another super swell Christmas mix for your listening pleasure.
