A new haunting track and video from LA's Bodies Of Water 's album Twist Again out now.

The video for "Rise Up, Careful," a spaciously jazzy track from L.A.'s Bodies Of Water, shows what happens when an interpretive dancer goes in for a career change because, as he says, "Self-expression has only brought me more problems." I heard that, dude. What follows is a truly brain-warping job interview. Watch it below. Read More...

I haven't had much time of late to write. The house project of repainting walls, painting trim, pulling up carpets, and laying down bamboo has absolutely dominated my time. That and working on my BMW, which in the past few weeks has received a full tune-up (with exception of replacing points and cleaning the carb). I'm hoping that come mid-week, I'll be back in my normal post routine. As time has been limited, I thought "Desert Island Picks" would be a good topic for the week. Unfortunately, I left off [...]

I fixed my tail light. It was a simple matter of checking the fuses, noting that the 8A fuse was blown, and swapping it out. Still having issues with the front indicator and running light, but thanks to the good folk at BMW 2002 FAQ, I should have it figured out in the near future. On to the show. Tonight's show was all about current favorites. I played a few tracks discovered within the last week, and several that have been in heavy rotation on my personal playlist of late. [...]
Last June Bodies of Water quietly self-released Twist Again - their most mature and, at times, subdued album to date. Autumnal in both tone and presence, the set was the first release following the exit of founding members Kyle Gladden and Jessie Conklin, leaving husband and wife David and Meredith Metcalf to their own devices. This [...]

Being sick is terrible. I've been fighting something nasty since Tuesday. Luckily the worst was out of the way fast - after recording a 101 degree temperature Tuesday night, the fever subsided and I've slowly returned to a state that's manageable. I was still a bit stuffed up on the 25th, but by 10pm all that was left was sniffling and the occasional cough - my regular voice was back. On November 25, I decided to do something a little different. Not only would I tell a few stories about [...]
"LA-based Bodies of Water play a familiar grab bag of recent indie touchstone sounds, from haunting female-led British folk on the opener "One Hand Loves the Other", to vamping electric Neil Young rock with a country flair on "Open Rhythms". They do it all with an ear for the melodramatic. It's as if they were composing a musical about an indie band making an album. On their third album, Bodies of Water return to their own label Thousand Tongues (though they're still associated with Secretly Canadian, who originally provided them with wider distribution). This album continues [...]

California-based lo-fi rock band Bodies of Water are back with a new album, Twist Again , relased last month on Thousand Tongues Records. More intimate and somewhat darker than the band's previous albums, Twist Again is still filled with sunny melodies and breezy 60s pop sounds. You can stream the whole album now on Soundcloud . After the departure of founding members Kyle Gladden and Jessica Conklin, the married core of the band (David and Meredith Metcalf) focused on their ABBA-tastic side project Music Go Music , with the project's [...]
On its third album, the husband/wife team of Bodies of Water continues its pursuit of highly orchestrated, indie savant craftwork. LA-based Bodies of Water play a familiar grab bag of recent indie touchstone sounds, from haunting female-led British folk on the opener "One Hand Loves the Other", to vamping electric Neil Young rock with a country flair on "Open Rhythms". They do it all with an ear for the melodramatic. It's as if they were composing a musical about an indie band making an album. On their third album, Bodies of Water return to their...
This is a picture of Sarabeth Tucek. She makes music that's kinda of a downer, but it's like listening to aural agony, and it's amazing right after a late night of drinking with friends or if you just ran over a squirrel or something like that. Anyway, I thought this picture was just all kinds [...]
