Another day, another ridiculously grabby re-work or in this case a double dose of dubs by The Revenge of Brooklyn synth-pop group Body Language . Why the need for two dubs? Why not might be the real question... The first is a tight-nit proggy burner with sharp drum kicks and an entrancing 303 bass-line for the Detroit/Chicago heads. The later is a heavy rhythmic bulk of beats that slowly undresses to reveal itself as a warm dancefloor ember. Either way you look at it, you're in for a ride!

We're always a fan of free stuff, especially when it's free music from one of our favorite Brooklyn acts Body Language . We hosted them a while back at the Electric Pickle and it was definitely one of our more memorable live acts. Since then they've released their Grammar EP and are now giving it away with some brand new material on their website . If you like some seriously funky disco-influenced pop with smooth vocal harmonies. You'll love these guys! Grab [...]

Over the past few years Brooklyn dance-pop outfit Body Language has released a grip of catchy jams and toured and/or collaborated with everyone from Passion Pit to Zero 7 to Theopholis London to Toro Y Moi . Most recently, they've released a sharp EP called Grammar which they have generously offered up as a FREE DOWNLOAD . Grammar shimmers with layers of beautiful melodies and harmonies that would instantly appeal to fans of any (and all those) different acts. Additionally, they've smartly employed a handful of great [...]

J'ai Oublié Mon Coeur, roughly translated from the French, means "I Forgot About My Heart." This is a Dark Valentine's Day playlist for the solitary types. I've never been a fan of playlists as a random collection of songs, so think of this list as a journey. Here we are exploring the dynamic of thinking you're made of stone, but really, love shoots and shatters through your glass insides like a pinball made of steel. Beginning with Dean Blunt's "Papi," we ask: How do you deal with someone who "brings out the best in you when human [...]

One of Brooklyn's most uprising bands, Body Language , has just re-released their Grammar EP , this time with two brand new tracks. The 5-track EP is available free for download on the band's website, while they prepare for a spring tour and an album release later this year. If you've been following Body Language, you might have heard track 3 ("I'm A Mess"), track 4 ("The First"), and track 5 ("Lose My Head") on their previous release of this EP or at their live show, but the first two never-before-heard tracks are fresh. [...]
Aussie native, Light Year, has remixed Body Language's "Lose my Head," into a dulled-down, more space-age type jam. Music Player: Body Language - Lose My Head (Light Year Remix) [Preview] [...]
Brand new track from Nico Ormiston's solo operation as Beverlay , taken from his forthcoming EP, Body Language, which is out on February 27. Like the last excellent Beverlay single , this charming cut received a helping hand from Ormiston's Winter Gloves comrade Charles F , whose fingerprints are felt all over those glowing, pitch-perfect synths. The post listen: Beverlay - "First Snow" appeared first on Soft Signal .

In preparation for the release of their new album, Grammar , Body Language have decided to be really cool. They're not giving you some slow-loading youtube preview, rather they're giving you their entire new Grammar EP for FREE! All you've got to do is trade in your trusty email address. According to the band, the new record continues the band's experiments with blurring the lines between pop, disco and R&B. The results are pretty interesting, and I'm particularly interested in the track below. [...]

Note to self: don't ever announce a "Friday afternoon blogging assault", since of course something will come up to delay the assault. In this case the wind changed, and you don't want smoke from te smoke grenades in your face, because that means you have to wash you hair again, even if you just did it this morning. On the other hand, it's like when you start the morning with a mouthful of whisky: It's gotta be noon somewhere. And since it's four in the afternoon in São Paulo when I write this, I'm technically not late at all. [...]

Fresh off the success of last year’s Social Studies LP, Body Language have returned with their trademark sound of future-shocked pop, blended with a dash of Soul and R&B. Or as the Brooklyn quartet puts it, “Our world still exists in an indie-disco bubble; we’re just pushing the limits of every genre to a point where the bubble’s about to pop.” That’s certainly the case with “Lose My Head”—a floor-filler that’s driven by late ‘70s funk licks and diamond-encrusted keys. The Jimmy Edgar remix shakes down [...]

Download this remix that Niki & the Dove did for “The First”, a track off Body Language’s upcoming album. The magic behind this Body Language/Niki & the Dove collab goes way deeper than just a remix: the 2 synth-pop bands first crossed paths in Austin during SXSW, where they shared a bill. They’ll instantly clicked & insisted on keeping in touch. Later in the year, when Niki & The Dove came to New York for a show, Ian (the drummer from Body Language) joined the duo to play percussion in their live set. The bromance continued [...]
