SXSW is like a suspension of normal reality when it comes to gigs, events and festivals. Some record labels just nail it every single time. It's obviously rare, because scouting for the very best new music is one thing, but then actually signing them can require further fortune, as you compete with so many others, but every now and again a record label appears and it delivers band after band of awesomeness. Every March, the music industry packs it's bags and moves to Austin, Texas for South By Southwest, a festival that manages to get bigger and bigger each year despite it's already gargantuan/beastly size. Matthew Dear is very much interested in aesthetics-of both the visual and the auditory nature. He and his band are damn well put-together. This is clear from the beginning. Body Language decided to remix Vacationer 's cool jam, "Trip". They have changed the chill track into a mid-tempo arrangement sampli ng the finest of Caribbean culture. After seeing both these bands back to back at CMJ last year, I already knew this was a match made in heaven before hearing this.
Got sent this new Body Language remix for Vacationer's track "Trip" . Digging the sounds. A mid-tempo slightly calypso sounding remix that's pretty much 180 degrees different than the original. Love when they do that. Check out the track below which is being offered as a free download and the original track for comparison sake. Enjoy!
