The Low Anthem - Boeing 737 Wow. This. This band loves to give me chills. The harmonies on the chorus are what did it for me. via twentyfourbit : The Low Anthem have proven their prowess in performing subdued, nuanced acoustic folk tunes on many occasions , but let the record show the Providence alt-Americana troupe aren't afraid to take on a triumphant original rock jam when inspiration strikes: Ben Knox Miller and friends set the dulcimer down for an electric guitar/trumpet/distorted vox-driven take on [...]
The Low Anthem Perform "Boeing 737" The Low Anthem have proven their prowess in performing subdued, nuanced acoustic folk tunes on many occasions , but let the record show the Providence alt-Americana troupe aren't afraid to take on a triumphant original rock jam when inspiration strikes: Ben Knox Miller and friends set the dulcimer down for an electric guitar/trumpet/distorted vox-driven take on Smart Flesh cut "Boeing 737" over at Hear Ya recently. The Low Anthem's "Boeing 7373 is my favorite song of the 2011 so far. It's filled with intensity with clashing cymbals, soaring horns, and stormy vocals from Ben Knox Miller. The first line still gives me chills every time I listen to it: "I was in the air when the towers came down/ In a bar on the 84th floor." The video was filmed deep in the forests of Scotland, where high-wire walkers are chased by circus men. We're in the process of mixing our live session with The Low Anthem that features a performance of "Boeing 737." [...]
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: The Low Anthem Video: 'Boeing 737' Highlight: "The guys from End of the Road Pictures are friends of ours and one day they asked us if they could do a music video for 'Boeing 737,'" the Low Anthem's Jeff Prystowsky tells Spinner. "They had this idea of filming actual circus tightrope walkers in the forest. It sounded great to us, and I think they nailed it. They also made the video for ' Charlie Darwin [...]
So you CAN'T judge an album by its cover? Hmmph. Go figure. Everything on The Low Anthem's Smart Flesh cover would have led me to believe they were taking a psychedelic trip back to 1960's Art Deco impressionism. Seems like something they would do. Two seconds after you hit play on "Boeing 737" you'll be [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. Taken from The Low Anthem 's new record, 'Boeing 737' is a rich, bluesy and stomping affair with growling vocals and endlessly momentous drumming. The new raw and earnest video was shot by the band's friend Thom Zimmer within the Pasta Sauce Factory in which the Rhode Island four-piece recorded much of Smart Flesh.

It's good to see the Low Anthem stretching outside their comfort zone on their new single. 'Boeing 737', a song that sees the Rhode Island quartet stray from their delicate folk sounds has a video to accompany the track too.

Well, well, well. Looks like Boeing has finally gotten their shit together to get their new airplane out of the hatch. "It's not every day a major new aircraft takes the skies for the first time , but today's special: Boeing's 787 Dreamliner is currently taking its very first test flight over the skies of Everett, Washington. Over 55 airlines including Continental and Northwest have already purchased some 840 of the next-gen planes, with All Nippon Airways scheduled to take the first delivery." Really, anything at this point that would make flying more enjoyable would [...]
If you haven't checked out Boeing's X-45 unmanned combat air vehicle yet, you totally should. It is developed by Boeing's Phantom Works unit and can do some pretty badass tricks. Sorry, if you think we are selling out to advertisers. We have electricity bills and rent to pay just like everyone else.

It's not every day that you stumble across music gold in the bargain bin of a record store but every once and a while you discover something that just can't be topped. Many moons ago i purchased Chromeo's debut LP for a mere .99 cents, totally unaware of the love that would prevail, i also curiously picked up another album for the same price simply titled ' Action Figure Party ' wrapped in poorly printed sleeve art but, to my surprise, it turned out to be 12 tracks of some the most amazing jazz fusion. Action Figure Party [...]

It's Tuesday and I am a little brain dead from the long holiday weekend, so I feel it may be time to get my head working again and nerd out on a micro genre. In terms of its lifespan, Italo Disco somewhat quickly morphed into the High NRG cheese sound, but in its first several years it seemed to take more influence from American R&B than synthy Euro-Pop. I like to call this early incarnation (roughly 1980-1982), Italo Boogie. The ubiquitous studio group Kano (which is credited for first ushering in the italo sound) had its finest moment in 1981 [...]
