It's LIFESTYLE night on Boston Accents. Sean Drinkwater and Ad Frank from Boston's synthpop veterans hung with me tonight in the studio, playing new tracks, talking about their February 11 masquerade... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

The hard copies of our new EP, Loose Ends, just arrived in the mail! The record is officially out on DEC 16th (with digital versions somewhat secretly available right now). You'll be able to get your hands on a copy in person at a big blow out party we're having at MERCURY LOUNGE on Wednesday, DEC. 17th with The Bon Savants and label mates Ford & Fitzroy (who, btw, just released their own record yesterday). You know you can't wait! I stumbled upon Up the Empire sometime in early '06 and [...]

Tonight in Baltimore Title Tracks, The Caribbean, Moscow Telephone, and Nathan Bell play the Metro Gallery while Mesh, Google Eyes, Thrust Lab, and Chandeliers play the Hexagon . Also in town is the Atmosphere Paint The Nation Tour featuring Abstract Rude, Blueprint, and DJ Rare Groove at Rams Head Live. Down by DC in Virginia tonight is Middle Distance Runners 100th show (and first one in a while) and they're playin with New Rock Church Of Fire. Should be a good one. Also in DC are Girl Talk with Grand Buffet and Hearts of Darkness at the [...]

Since I am heading out of town for a long weekend, the usual weekend show preview is combined with the shows that will be coming through the area today and Thursday. Quite a few big names are playing as well as some hitting multi-city stops. TV on the Radio just dropped their new disc Dear Science and are on tour with the Dirtbombs , playing at the Electric Factory in Philly Friday night. After a long hiatus, Shudder to Think is back together and out on tour. This [...]
I have been listening to the new Fuck Buttons album, Street Horrrsing, on repeat for the last two days. The droning, electronic sounds have completely hypnotized me and I no longer understand why I need pop melodies to get me through my day. It seems pointless to have a couple of humans singing in key together, when we can have electronic sounds rising and falling and creating the same sort of

Holy Crap! There are a ridiculous amount of good shows tonight. Starting things off in Baltimore, Wye Oak plays the Talking Head with Hands and Knees and Small Sur. In DC, the Rock & Roll Hotel hosts The Rosebuds, Drug Rug, and Carol Bui. Finally in Philly, Johnny Brenda's has a good one in Aderbat, Bon Savants, An American Chinese, and Peasant. Go Music! mp3: Wye Oak - Obituary --> website --> buy mp3: Hands and Knees - [...]

It's finally Friday and the weekend is staring us in the eye. The bitch says party, so you better listen. Fortunately, she makes it easy to comply, by presenting you with a solid offering of shows. To start the weekend off on a high note, French Kicks return to DC. They play a show at Rock 'N Roll Hotel and bring a little bit of New York with them in the form of Bon Savants and The Childballads . French Kicks - So Far [...]

In honour of May 24 and cottages and the like, here is this. Water, beaches, sailing, whatever. THOSE things. Those things the loser boating community can't experience because of this shit weather, which makes me pretty happy, though I'm sure the boaters don't care about that or anything else really (which is a boater characteristic, they all have it, even kayakers). You know, I want a boat! If anyone has any information on how I could get myself one and live on it forever without getting attacked by pirates or sea police or water [...]

Haha, I was trying to think of a title that would have a dream-like quality, because the song I am listening to right now is having a dream-like effect on me. No strings, trumpets or pianos for ear candy, this is just singing and guitars, but it's quality. It has a touch of the sound from the 80s that I will always love...reminiscent of Bowie if I do say so myself. I'm going to have to watch The Labyrinth tonight. Bon Savants - " Between the Moon and the Ocean " You can [...]
Welcome back from SXSW everyone, how was the trip? Well while you fine folks were all in the nice sun going from show to show we were shoveling several inches of snow off our walks and cars and trying to recover from our St. Patrick's hang overs. This week though, its all about New York with some freaking amazing lineups. Here's what we got... Monday: Fujiya & Miyagi @ Barnard College 8pm $5 As you may have heard Fujiya & Miyagi are awesome! You may also have heard that they sold out several shows at [...]

SXSW 2007 list. Yes I know it's over. but I just had time downloading the songs to make lists. This one is the nicest so it goes first. It's a late nite list with consistent sound, very sexy, and bunch of post-rock in each section. I would post more info, were it for not having a chance to carefully look at each artists webpage. But at least the list nice. Enjoy. "I. City of Love " 01. Dislike - Alone (Ufa, RUSSIA) 02. Slot - [...]

And so after some two months plus of planning, the (first) big day finally arrived - Hot Freaks was here. I was equally excited and nervous about it for obvious reasons, but now that it's half in the bag, I can say quite honestly that I'm really pleased with how it went off. Let's recap. Small Sins (Toronto, ON) @ The Mohawk Patio - Small Sins had the rather unenviable task of kicking things off bright and early to an audience made up mainly of people working the show. But [...]

Shuffle the iPod and this is what comes out: These Texarkana, Tx. dudes put together some serious experimental tunes awash with guitars and large cinematic orchestration. This is heady stuff and on par with tunes only a band like Radiohead can produce. mp3 So Long Pilotdrift - Iter Facere Only this New York quartet can easily pull off a spastic, quirky tune as this and still make it feel [...]
