Teenage Bad Girl - Ghost House Cocotte Remember when Daft Punk used to be good? This French duo do, and their new album is full of killer robot rock. Where Daft Punk succumbed to the cheese, these lads look to Justice and MSTRKRFT and hit you hard. This track was the B-side to their first single and is some sweet bliss-co music. Amy Winehouse - In My Bed Frank When Amy's debut was released in

Over spring break I watched City of God in two sittings. I guess it was just too good to watch all the way through without taking a break. Well, anyway, in my off time I tried to figure out why the character "Knockout Ned" looked so familiar. Then it hit me. He was played by the Brazilian singer-songwriter, Seu Jorge, also featured in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou . Check him out: [...]

Bonde do Role is getting a lot of love from not only Diplo and CSS; but now from bloggers, Domino (their label) and the rest of the pseudo cool kids that don't even know what freestyle music is... Anyway, who cares...they are absolutely awesome! Listen for yourself here: Bonde do Role - Melo do Tabaco (A-Trak Remix) NY Broad x

Since then we've heard plenty from Sub Pop's CSS, but [...]
Mark Ronson featuring Santo Gold "Pretty Green" - The original version of "Pretty Green" by the Jam is hardly a sleepy tune, but in comparison to this super-kinetic cover by producer Mark Ronson, it seems stiff and comatose. Is there even a proper genre name for this thing, other than "classy dance-pop stuff with horns that Mark Ronson makes" or um, "modern Ze "? Santo Gold has a prissy, bratty voice similar to that of Cristina , though her delivery is more [...]

By Martin Kollar Perhaps 49 was a little bit anticlimactic given today is the 50th (!) edition of this little feature. It all started as a forced common thread between edits which otherwise had none. Now, based on the amount you guys come back for more, I think Sunday itself has become the thread. Am I right? Here's some extra juice fuh yuh this historic Sunday. " Even in times of war, you can see current events in their historical perspective, provided [...]
Bonde Do Role 's Marina Ribatski Diplo 's latest post on the Mad Decent blog points us in the direction of this clip, which chronicles the "Making of" Bonde Do Role 's new video for "Solta o Frango." The clip features the somewhat unique and inspired choice of Jon and Vangelis ' "I Hear You Now" as backing music. Not much about the actual video is revealed, except for possible cockfighting. We do learn, however, that Bonde Do Role has mastered MS Paint: [...]
Yeah, I'm losing my edge. I'm losing my edge. The kids are coming up from behind. I'm losing my edge. I'm losing my edge to the kids from France and from London. But I was there. I was there in... It's getting chilly at last. Thank god. Maybe at last some of those small furry woodland creatures can get some kip for a couple of months. I've been meaning for a while to check out Emperor Machine... the Krauty side project of Chicken Lips' Andrew Meecham. And what better time than with this hot and quite brilliant new remix of The Knife's 'Marble House'. Dragging The Knife down into a

pic: dirtydirtydancing I sometimes find it hard to believe just how consistently fantastic Claude Von Stroke's output is. He came straight out of leftfield with some of my favourite tracks of last year, and he seems to have done it again with this great job on the flip of Mikael Well's Silmarions. Sometimes I find it hard to avoid playing several CVS tracks in the same set, and this slow burning banger certainly adds to the dilemma. Mikael Well - Silmarions (Claude Von Stroke Remix) Another couple of [...]

Mad Decent's Brazilian funk carioca group Bonde Do Role have a new EP coming out to follow up to their 2006 'Melo Do Tobaco' EP. While I had Melo Do Tobaco on repeat from the moment I got it, this one song totally kills their whole first EP. Maybe it's me, but I think they went a little overboard on the samples & melodic reference to older songs. But based soley on this song, the Gasolina EP sounds promising. Hopefully they follow the same formula for the Whole EP as [...]

You haven't had enough of Bonde Do Rolê today? Sweet, me neither! You'll hear this on next week's MOKB's SIRIUS Satellite Blog Radio show as well (Thursdays at 10pm on Left Of Center, Channel 26). From Bonde Do Rolê's upcoming Gasolina EP. Bonde Do Rolê - Gasolina (Extended Mix) Bonus: Lemon Red mentions that that [...]

I'm not going to pretend the majority of you don't already know about Bonde Do Rolê , and after their breakout performance at the Pitchfork Festival in 2006, I meant to write about them. I never did, but I've been doing nothing but listening to them over the last couple weeks, so I just wanted to sing their praises. Diplo discovered the baile funk badasses on one of his many Brazil trips, 2 djs and one female mc - D'eyrot, MC Marina Ribatski and producer and DJ Rodrigo Gorky. He signed them to [...]

I had such a good time last night in Crawdaddy. Brazil's Bonde do Role mix samples from rock songs with baile funk beats and were Diplo's first signing to his MadDecent label. And you can understand why he snapped them up. Their music is pure fun, made for dancing and for putting smiles on faces. [...]
This was meant to be posted this past Sunday but Ezarchive was down for a majority of the day for me so I didn't get to put it up. In all honesty, i've hardly written anything at all. I guess it's normal to go through droughts like this. It happened a while back, but I managed to bounce back in a big way. Right now though I feel like I haven't figured out how to manage my time, and by the time I do feel like writing anything I just don't. I always thought the [...]

There have been a couple features about Montreal DJ Ghislain Poirier (can a name get more French?) who is "obsessed with big dirty beats, which is why he creates ragga style riddims and deconstructed abstract hip-hop." The dude also knows how to make a great remix. Here are a couple samples of some old and new stuff from Mr. Poirier . Mp3: Jay-Z "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" ( Ghislain Poirier Remix) [...]
