We love music that’s hard to define and that’s why LA’s Blackwater Jukebox intrigues us so much. Their new single “Boneyard” is a joyous celebration of sing along melodies, hand claps, and down home goodness that fulfills it’s incredibly fun aspirations. African-influenced folk-pop that has heavy doses of hip hop thrown in for good measure, make this a sunny adventure impossible so unique. Based on an old Gullah tune from the Georgia Sea Island, the song was originally used to teach children proper diction. We hope those kids (and polliwogs) danced around for hours [...]

Sound of Guns Mini Tour: Last Stop– King Tuts Wah Wah Hut 02/12/12 There’s a reason Sound of Gun’s front man Andy Metcalfe’s not allowed to enter the crowd surfing contest the band set fans ahead of their sold out gig at Glasgow’s legendary King Tuts, quite simply the now seasoned pro has an unfair advantage over all other competitors. This mere technicality however doesn’t prevent Metcalfe from participating encouraging members of the crowd at every opportunity to breathe the same rebellion and defy the venues strict no crowd surfing policy. Of course they oblige and the [...]

Sound of Guns Mini Tour: Liverpool 01/12/12 The promise of not one, but two hometown shows had Sound of Guns fans traveling far and wide for this one, the first an afternoon acoustic session at Liverpool’s Leaf Tea Shop followed by a full headline set later that evening at nearby venue The Masque. Long before doors had even opened fans began to queue outside quickly forming a long line all eager to hear the acoustic versions and rare B-sides Sound of Guns had vowed to [...]

Sound of Guns Mini Tour: First Stop- The Ruby Lounge Manchester 29/11/12 You can get that close to the stage in Manchester's The Ruby Lounge that you can touch it in fact you could even change the set list if you wanted to (yeah that might have actually happened!) Headline SOG gigs in Manchester are few and far between so understandably there's a massive buzz amongst the crowd also partly because local band The Tapestry have just warmed them up nicely. As the lights go down and the spine [...]
Been sitting on this one for a day or two, letting the rad soak through - Italian Beach Babes are onto a winner with these guys, and they've been right before ( Mazes , Eagulls , Dirty Beaches , Sealings ). These dudes from Brighton did release a tape with the label before, but this new demo removes the jaw from the skull (pardon the metaphor). Short but sweet, this is the kind of violence that could give a girl a boner. Starting off sounding equal parts garage reverb and thrashing guitars, you [...]

Boneyards - Passed by BONEYARDS Boneyards want to hold your attentiom but they know that your time is tight, so they offer up this, which at 2 under minutes isn't given enough time to get obnoxious and just ends up being a fevered bout of garage punk urgency.
The Coathangers - Trailer Park Boneyard (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO HD) from Studio 8 on Vimeo . Better than adderall for those with anorexic attention spans. This video is explicitly designed to command attention for all 213 seconds - from the first sound of spray paint to the cat fight at its conclusion. The Coathangers are probably the most compelling band on earth. As the video suggests, they make music with the wayward velocity of children falling off jungle gyms. Don't mistake simplicity for naivete. Like all of the most interesting people, [...]
Has there ever been a trailer park on TV or in movies that is not a bummer? Let us know, because we can't think of one. Here, The Coathangers, along with director Mike Moore, don't ... read more

A band that writes snotty ear-bashing tunes about beatboxing is a band worth knowing about, and loving. Boneyards (or is it BONEYARDS?) are from somewhere south - London or Brighton, I'm not sure - and will likely tickle you if you like Mazes, Thee Fair-Ohs, Flats or going back a bit further, The Mummies and bits of Bad Brains. Which, being a fairly simple soul musically, I do. Their cassette is available from what is another in a long line of brilliantly-named, t-shirt-worthy labels, Italian Beach Babes . Said label is also responsible for the [...]

At Times Life Is Pure Joy! And this is one of those times. Flower Orgy , also known to some as Nate Luce and the Pretty Cuties , have a new video for their jam "Boneyard." Back in September '10 we posted an early recording of this song, which we originally knew and loved as a Stingray Migration (mems Will Stratton, Flower Orgy) tune. Somehow this song manages to keep evolving, taking on new genders and moods like a stone down a mossy, young, [...]
Boneyards probably have everything a group of garage-punk upstarts in 2011 could ever want. 1) We're told they're a band ... Continue reading

As MOKB’s unofficial groupie of Atlanta, Georgia’s The Coathangers, I feel it’s my unofficial duty to bring you their latest release Trailer Park Boneyard off of their impending LP Larceny & Old Lace , in celebration of their massive upcoming tour which kicks off June 19 th 2011. In comparison to their first released single Hurricane, one might even say this tune showcases the “sweet” side of these ferocious southern sirens. That is, if they promise not to kick your [...]

New track from Atlanta's all-girl garage banger The Coathangers , "Trailer Park Boneyard" is taken from "Larceny & Old Lace" out in June on Suicide Squeeze Records The Coathangers - Trailer Park Boneyard by eke1

Power Crystals Orgy Once upon a time way back when , we posted a song called "Bone Yard" by Stingray Migration, a Bennington student musical group whose members included Will Stratton (after his show with El Perro Del Mar and Taken By Trees, we dug his song "Bluebells" ) and Nate "Skippy" Luce - whose duet show with Alex Bleeker of the Freaks we posted videos of here . Cutie and a sweet, sweet soul, Luce has now formed his new project Flower Orgy. Their [...]
