The bonobo species is a pretty interesting animal in itself. It appears that after the Congo River made its presence, the bonobo was separated from it's sister species, the common chimpanzee. This was due to it being a poor swimmer, and so they remain endangered and only survive in the Democratic Republic of Congo. That's from Wiki. Knowing this, now listen to Bonobo (Simon Green) , the Ninja Tunes downtempo badass. You can hear the landscape of the Congo River in his tunes. In "Sugar Rhyme" from his Animal Magic album, those long [...]
In their x-th avatar, Zero played a short set at the Mumbai press conference for Baajaa Gaajaa sans vocalist Rajeev Talwar. The set included 'Hate in Em', 'Not My Kind Of Girl' and a hasty, but well appreciated version of 'PSP'. Sidd Coutto took up vocal duties, and was the only other 'original' Zero member along with bassist Bobby Talwar (who moonlights as a mean guest judge on Channel V's reality show Launchpad ). On guitars were Gaurav Gupta and Pozy Dhar, the latter playing with almost every [...]
If the artists who performed at the press meet held at Bonobo to announce Baajaa Gaajaa are to be taken as representative of our independent music scene, then the future of Indian indie is listener-friendly pop-rock. Perhaps the absence of metal, alternative or even (thankfully) classic rock bands could be put down to the fact that this was supposed to be an intimate, primarily acoustic gig, the main lure of which was the return of the supposedly defunct Zero . But before we got to see what the boys called their 89th avatar [...]

Here's a cool idea: instead of listening to your local radio station broadcasting from the inside of some dirty cheese-fest club why not tune into some of the biggest venues with some of the worlds biggest DJs, live?! Awdio , the people from the place, actually make this happen! This month you, my reader, may be interested to know that you can dance in your bedroom to these Disc Jockeys: 3/01/09, Yo Majesty (US) , Miss Libertine, Melbourne 4/01/09, Bonobo (Ninja Tunes, UK) , Sonotheque, Chicago 8/01/09, Chase and Status (UK), Sandwiches, Wellington 10/01/09, [...]

I will outwardly admit that I have no clue why I'm seeing Bonobo live tonight at 103 Harriet in San Francisco. I more or so classify Bonobo as the kind of music you'd listen to while you're having sex with all the lights out. And that is obviously not happening tonight. I guess I might sip my beer and/or alcoholic drink and catch up with an old friend who's come to visit this weekend. I'm not saying I won't enjoy the music. Bonobo is probably one of my favorite Ninja Tune artists [...]
I've decided to post some chill tunes, reflecting the incessant cold and overcast skies here in Edmonton: Portishead - It Could Be Sweet Bonobo - Time Is The Enemy Thievery Corporation - The Outernationalist The Herbaliser - Moon Sequence West Magnetic - Give It Up For Free

Red Fire Escape, 20th Street, San Francisco, 2008 Hola. Halloween is around the corner, Turkey day is right after that, and then "Long Live the Mall" season is upon us. And then you need to reflect back on the year and put whatever temporary wrist stamp on for the time being, while the permanent tattoo will probably only be seen at a later time. ThumbPrint. Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano - You Wanna Start? - it's strange to see two of techno's progressive artists revert to [...]

Minu uue lemmiklooma nimeks saab Villu Pean selle südamelt ära saama - mulle meeldivad kilpkonnad. Ei, ära karda, ainult sõbrana. Muahahaa. Muidugi, ajad on rasked, majanduskriisi tingimustes igale kilpkonnale nelja elevanti ja kettamaailma kukile ei jagu, mõned peavad leppima punksoenguga. Mis on ka hea . Bonobo - The Turtle (Bonobo Mix) The Turtles - Happy Together (Wade Nichols Edit)

Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood The Juan Maclean - Find A Way The Bug - Skeng ft. Killa P - Flowdan Bonobo - Terrapin Supermayer - 2 Of Us (Deadmau5 Edit)

Some quality remixes from Simon Green's Bonobo project. After the release of "Dial "M" For Monkey", there was a Sold Steel mix album for Ninja Tunes, followed by the next album proper "Days To Come" in 2006. But that's too recent for this blog. So, we'll focus on Bonobo's remixes. Simon Green hasn't been a prolific remixer but a number were collected on his "One Off Remixes and B Sides" album in 2002. The best of them is a remix for Pilote, where Simon took a rather dull chillout track and [...]

Some more soothing downtempo to start your day, from Simon Green's Bonobo. Simon Green's Bonobo project may not have the respect it deserved from discriminating, forward-thinking electronica fans, but his melody-driven downbeat pop is still worth your time - in fact, second album "Dial "M" for Monkey" (2003) is more intriguing for its focus on melodies as well as samples. Breakbeats power most of the tracks, hardly surprising since it was released on Ninja Tune, though Green's interests don't lie in hip-hop or even trip-hop; his influences encompass alternative rock ("Something [...]

Bonobo might be a species of monkey but it is also the name for Simon Green's downtempo music. Coming to the fore in 2000, Simon produces a brand of downtempo that has wit - more like Mr Scruff than lazy soporific dime a dozen chillout compilations. It's quite hard to describe the music, so: With the experimental warmth of '60s French films and the pizzicato flavor of horizontal hip-hop, Simon Green's Bonobo project established a welcome niche of a pretension-free, [...]
My brother came up with great name for a seemingly unnameable genre: FutureJazzBot. Unconventional instruments, jazz compositions, mixed via electronica...the future of jazz? Probably not, but artists like Four Tet, Matthew Herbert, Daedelus, Royksopp, Battles and many others all seem to fit into this strange categorization. Granted there is not much improvisation involved, but it definitely
Or at least they should. Monkeys are funny. I will always give bonus points to anyone who names their musical project or album after a monkey, so Mr. Simon Green aka Bonobo was in good standing with me before I even took the plastic off his Dial "M" For Monkey CD. Then he got many more bonus points for being really good at music. And while his most recent, Days To Come , is somewhat short on the monkey references, it makes up for [...]

Church Street Series, 2008 It's a great thing to meet people who inspire you to be a better person. A muse, on life.......... Bebel Gilberto & Vinicius Cantuaria - Batucada - From the Next Stop Wonderland movie starring Hope Davis with a minor role for Philip Seymour Hoffman. It has a great Bossa Nova soundtrack as well as score from Mark Isham. Bonobo - In Between The Lines (Nostalgia 77 Remix) (Alternate Unreleased Mix ) [...]
