I've decided that since I have had so much cool music come through the inbox lately, another Eight Songs post is in order. Hear eight more songs that I have been into lately after the break. A spooky picture of eight pumpkins seems appropriate for such a post, eh? Considering the time of year, that is. Amazon.com Widgets [...]

[Buzzbeats is an occasional feature on Buzz Bands LA authored by Rich Thomas, whose work you can find at his Mining the Landfill blog. Past entries here .] By Rich Thomas Way back in 1998, at the height of electronica's Big Beat revolution, Japanese duo Boom Boom Satellites released a ferocious little single called "Push Eject." The drums were mad, chopped-up rolls of off-time goodness, and the only thing gnarlier than Michiyuki Kawashima's [...]

Check out the track "Kick It Out" from the album below enjoY! Boom Boom Satellites - Kick It Out Tour Dates ------- [...]

Ok! Boom Boom Satellites is a rather dope electronic/rock band duo from Tokyo Japan. Got it? Good! Now, in the above picture you notice Flo-Rida..right? Yea; cool. Do you recognize the dude on the left side? I'll let you think about it.. ..... .... ... .. . Ding! It's the Smart Guy himself, Tahj Mowry! Well he's a Rock & Roll/Hip- Hop artist now! I'm guessing this is his first track & by the [...]

A couple of artists today; Everything But The Girl and Boom Boom Satellites (remixed by Coldcut). Originating at the turn of the 1980s as the archetypal indie bedsit band, Everything but the Girl became an unlikely success story more than a decade later, emerging at the vanguard of the fusion between pop and electronica. More details from a previous post here . In 2004, they released "Adapt or Die - Ten Years of Remixes", from which the two featured tracks are taken, with mixes by deep house remixer King Britt [...]

The actual plot of the 2004 Appleseed movie isn't all that interesting, despite frequent references to Greek mythology and a Utopian city half-populated by "bioroids." In fact, I'd be hard pressed to even tell you what the movie was about after watching it in Japanese once, English once and reading the Wikipedia entry on it. Characters seem to know each other, but its never really explained. I'm also not really clear on the government of this futuristic city, ruled by a prime minister, a military dude, a bunch of old men hooked up to life support and an [...]

Time to knock it up several notches for some high-octane, upbeat and explosive music from Japanese electronica/rock duo, "Boom Boom Satellites". A mix of big beats and heavy hitting guitars, the music is incredibly loud and punky - ready to help you forget today is Monday. Their seventh and latest album, from which today's track is taken from, was released in 2007, is called "Exposed" and also features a track "Shut up and Explode" used as the opening theme tune to a new anime series Xam'D: Lost Memories – also, in fitting with an ongoing theme explosive and [...]

"Like The Prodigy fighting Underworld with bloody big sticks" (NME) Tokyo's Boom Boom Satellites offer a brutal clash of high-tech hooks, renegade rhythm and distortion-drenched guitar. The brainchild of Masayuki Nakano and Michiyuki Kawashima, Boom Boom Satellites have proven themselves one of Japan's most exciting crossover acts, touring the US with such artists as Underworld, Fatboy Slim and Moby, performing at festivals worldwide (including Glastonbury(1998) and Leeds (2004)), and headlining the White Stage at Japan's vast Fuji Rock Festival in 2007. In [...]

Boom Boom Satellites are what happens when Japanese people listen to the Chemical Brothers. Some excellent kooky Japanese tecnho/rock. The Tokyo electronic-pop duo Boom Boom Satellites paired singer/guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima and bassist/DJ Masayuki Nakano, fellow university students who first teamed in 1990. Taking their name from a song by Sigue Sigue Sputnik, they earned wide acclaim for their 1995 debut single "Dub Me Crazy," a highlight of noted DJ Fumiya Tanaka's Abstract Set One compilation; signing with the Belgian label R&S, in 1997 Boom Boom Satellites returned with "4 a Moment of Silence," followed later that [...]
Still photos from the "3D 2D" movie Vexille . Can't understand a word of what they're saying and not usually into anime stuff... still, wowzers, that clip!!! More info here . Another trailer here.
