Boy Friend - Egyptian Wrinkle Part Cocteau Twins, part Paul McKenna's special hypnotism-chamber music and part one-too-many aspirins, this soft-focus beaut (the title-track from an album out on Hell, Yes! ) from the Austin musicians takes you swimming down memory lane in a special, pain-proof glass chariot. Producer and musician Bosco Delrey crafts unheard new versions of rock'n'roll that sounds like Memphis blues music mixed with a variety of other influences including church hymns, dance hall, lo-fi and southern hip hop. After signing with the well-known Mad Decent label, he released his 2010 album "Everybody Wah," a work full of catchy pop drenched in rockabilly old-timey production. Like a "garbage can Elvis" from New Jersey, Bosco brings back the nostalgia of the rock music we love, with a modern edge. - Read Amanda Dissinger's interview with Bosco here [...]

video for the lead track from Bosco Delrey 's Everybody Wah album directed by Matthew Caron shot on location at Secret Project Robot Art Experiment, Brooklyn NY
Memphis Mad Decent rock dude Bosco Delrey ( no relation ) has just dropped the video for "Baby's Got A Blue Flame," the opening track from his 2011 album Everybody Wah . The fuzzy, black-and-white clip is made up to look like the party scene from an old '60s movie, and those scenes always looked like fun. Watch it below. Read More...

Up until compiling this list, I was pretty sure 2011 was not a fantastic year for music. Well, I may have been completely wrong. There might not have been giant releases from the most prominent artists of our generation, but this is only because there are no more prominent artists of our generation. The internet and availability of music has made anybody a contender for making a great record, and I believe it has become a complete toss up as to who makes a future classic in any given year. Relax, for this is a good thing. Here's my big [...]

Così credevo fino a poche settimane fa. Poi Bosco Delrey . Bosco Delrey [...]
To say Bosco Delrey 's debut LP, Everybody Wah , is simply fun would be an understatement. The undeniably catchy beats, hooks, and instrumentation are nothing to scoff at and make for a convincing first effort from the genre-melding producer and performer. This is incredibly smart psychedelic pop here. Coming off the heels of opening for Sleigh Bells, Delrey's weathered nomadic spirit is evident on "Glow Go the Bones" and "Lovely Sleepy Dead", tracks that feature a knowing, serious brewing just below the sun-kissed hippie surface. The tribal percussion rolling alongside Delrey's [...]

★★★★☆ Here's the sound of the summer of love, relishing the threat of burning out. Recklessly retro-pop, heavy on echo, reverb and guitar jangle where surf rock gets bum-rushed, New Jersey's Bosco Delrey peers through the smoke with the stare (and the hair) of Jim Morrison. Where rockabilly cool is religion, opening "Baby's Got a Blue Flame" comes low slung but high octane, in gyrating leather trousers and unbuttoned shirt that dominate the crashing walls of effect pedal riots adjacent. On some scuzzy road trip shit, "Don Haps" is Delrey swaggering through cigarette over [...]

Here it is. We have already biked and skateboarded ourselves past the waves of chillness that submersed our mental vessels for so short a time. You know, the puffin' tough, get high or die, ride the train from the Bowery to the Cloisters listening to Brian Wilson verses over Dilla beats type shit? Yeah, manne, that's what it is, see. You suddenly look up and recognize that you are clearly rocking with the best crews with the best news sipping the best brews nursing a big bruise, taking you blindly from your chosen [...]

What's up everyone. I know I didn't post anything this weekend, but it was my birthday so I decided to give myself a few days off. Anyway I'm back now with some great new songs and videos from some of my favorite artists. First of all, the new M83 and Florence & The Machine albums are currently blowing up my iTunes playlist on repeat, so I thought I would put up a couple of videos for singles from the respective LPs. I also have a great video for Metronomy's "The Bay," and if you like it than you should be [...]

Mad Decent Block Party I believe it was rock legends (ha!) Loverboy who said, "Everybody's working for the weekend." Well, it looks like we've reached that miraculous part of our week where we can shrug off the fatigue and get ready to party. If you thought the summer festival season ended with Lollapalooza, you'd be wrong. We're talking about Mad Decent's Block Party in Bucktown this Saturday as well as fabulous shows by Birth (last show!), White Mystery , Pretty Good Dance Moves and Tyler Jon Tyler , [...]

Last year 's Block Party was a lot of fun and I don't see why this year would be any different. Much like 2010, our line up is alright as compared to other cities, but at least we get Lunice. I caught his set on Boiler Room a few months back and he was one of the most animated DJs I've ever seen. Absorb this information... Mad Decent Block Party: Chicago Saturday, August 13 Wicker Park Area N. Milwaukee Ave from N. Western Ave to N. Oakley Ave [...]

Moombahton is the sound of the summer, and Diplo 's Mad Decent label has definitely been the leader in bringing the genre to the masses. But Mad Decent isn't just about Moombahton, though artist Dillon Francis seems to be the big thing of the moment—the label has also supported plenty of other exciting names in electronic music, ranging from the dubstep of Rusko and Kito & Reija Lee to the reggae-inspired dancehall sounds of Major Lazer to the fidgety 8-bit sounds of Boy 8-Bit, not to mention the rest of the label's awe-inspiring roster.
